Salei leads Florida in hits and blocked shots and is second in ice time only behind Bouwmeester.

So the Avs added a 3rd round pick to a 6th/7th defensman to get a top 4 guy back. Plus Salei is signed through 09-10.

Does Salei have a decent shot? Booming shot from the point?

You always have to be careful with stats though but Salei looks pretty good to me.

anyone in doubt just look back to the ducks run in 03, salei was a top 2 dmen there, and big part of there run to the finals.

he is also willing to drop the gloves!

I love Skrastins and was one of his biggest fans, but there is no denying he's lost not one but probably two steps in the last year and a half. We get upgraded our defensive corps. and it only cost us about 600k in cap space. We gave up a third rounder, but you have to pay to play. Solid pick up. I'm happy.

Yea. And it's really just a 3rd. We still have our 1st and 2nd. That is all that matters.

Besides, we have two hours to get it back.

Anyone have crib notes on Colorado's picks this year? I know FG did alot of trading down last draft, but it was mostly in the later rounds.

Apparently tornado warning going on in Florida. Might make it more difficult for Salei to get to Calgary tonight.

I personally love this deal. I thought Skrastins had absolutely no value around the league. We got basically Salei for a 3rd round pick IMO.

Darn. I hope that is not the reason we didn't trade Liles.

I am very pleased with the Salei trade. Karlis was a good player but his game has dropped a lot in the last two years. With Karlis often being scratched, I believe we would have bought him out in the off season. Salei can skate very well and can clear the front of the net.

The biggest upgrade from Skrastnins to Salei is skating.

Ruslan is a much better skater than Karlis.

So far Salei had a good first game , idk what he will do in the long run but never forget that we only gave up Skrastins + pick , for him . So I can't see how it can be a bad move for us .
