I went with Lindstrom. Notice a trend with these prospects. There are no top defensemen prospects.

Except that Methot is a better prospect than You-walk-him.

I disagree, which is why I voted Goloubef.

Goloubef didn't put up ridiculous numbers so people wont think he is any good. What you have to realize is he was the 2nd youngest player in division 1 hockey and was playing on a loaded Wisconson team. If he was in the CHL, im betting he would have put up BIG numbers.

I'm with you on this. I think this kid's going to be a real solid player.

Of course I'm still sucked in by the shiney newness factor.
Legein was sooooo last year.

I went with Methot. Can't vote against him because the way he's played in the NHL. I don't know a lot about Goloubef, only what I've read on here. I just can't put hear/say above actual NHL experience. I'm a little surprised no one has said anything about Will Weber yet. He seemed like he was having a great rookie year in the USHL before he got hurt and was the first pick in their draft last year. He's a big kid and I'm excited about seeing him play. I don't know how good he's gonna be, but I'm still excited.

"Shiny newness factor" is a downside in my eyes. I always think players who have been around a little longer are better prospectwise. That's why I voted Methot over Goloubef and Mason/Brassard over Filatov. I can't believe their better than the guys who've been developing a year or two longer. Goloubef will be a solid player eventually, I just don't see him longterm being better than Methot. I know what we're getting with Methot, Goloubef's still completely unknown to me.

True, but I've seen what Methot has done in the NHL and I see that he can be a pretty decent player in the league. I've never seen Goloubef play so I can't say how good I think he's gonna be. I don't know how much I can trust everyone on here

it has nothing to do with newness. it has everything to do with who would be the best player if both hit their ceilings. and that is Goloubef. its not even close, imo.

The newness comment was aimed at Kallio.

But you people said the same thing last year that our picks were the best we've ever had, and I just can't buy that we continue to get better and better players every year in the draft. Draft classes don't continue to improve continually. It's just not possible.

Fine, vote for CG. I'm not because I don't think he's that great.

Cody G was the youngest guy in the WCHA last year but I wouldn't say he was on a loaded team. The backline had 4 frosh, 1 sophomore and 2 seniors. He was a bright spot on a very young, inexperienced defensive core. This year the Badger D is stacked with 3 first rounders and 3 2nd rounders; I expect Goloubef will be #4 man.

I just hope the Jackets develope him better than they did Roto. Doug McLean ruined some decent prospects in his time.

Going with Mayorov based on raw talent. Methot's a good pick too.

Mark Methot. Saw one his first few games during his very first call up at the Nat. Couldn't believe it was only his first week in the league. Looked so steady and dependable.

In the end, I think Goloubef will be better than Methot, who is a better player than Cody right now. Isn't the long run view > the short term view when it comes to ranking prospects?

No biggie, but I'm not sure how Methot, pretty much a third pairing defenseman, is being considered a higher-ranked prospect than a guy who could be a top-four guy.

Cuz' he's already proven himself to have at least some value in the NHL...

Bingo. Methot will be a regular NHLer. Probably this coming season. Goloubef? Well, he could be, but I've seen Methot prove his worth on the NHL ice already. He belongs.

1) No cheating necessary. Click on one of the results numbers and you'll see. This is how I identify my enemies waste time now and again.
2) I'm not 100% sure, but I presume it's like "Go-low-behff."
