The Brad Richards debacle part 3

Other one was at 1000.

I remember a few years back the San Jose Sharks traded 3 meaningless players for Joe Thornton, then turned into a Stanley Cup contender.

I'm not saying Joe=Brad, but a Richards trade would've pointed us in the right direction.

Not getting Richards caused the Foote and Feds trades. It had to.

We should have traded one of them even if we got Richards. Foot was traded because of his dopey negotiating trying to get us to pay a premium for him to stay and continue to suck.

I think they would've traded Feds regardless.

Thornton was traded for Marco Sturm, a top six wing for Boston; Brad Stuart; and Wayne Primeau. Stuart and Primeau were traded to Calgary for Chuck Kobasew, who's playing on Boston's 2nd line with Sturm, and Andrew Ference, a 3rd pairing d-man for the B's. Calling them meaningless is a bit hyperbolic. I know you're frustrated but overstating your case doesn't necessarily add any weight to it.

And they aren't even a real SCF contender. They haven't been back to the Western Conference Finals since they got him.

I for one, refuse to blame Howson for this. He stuck to his guns and didn't give up the farm for Richards. The Jackets still have Voracek, Mason, Leclaire, Brassard, Brule, Nash, and Zherdev. As of 2:12 P.M., anyway...

We are sellers as we should be. I'm disappointed we lost Richards but F&F are gone so we will have plenty of money to sign guys this summer. The chances of the playoffs are slim, a firesale is ok with me. But there still is 30 minutes....

Well this organization just set itself back another 3 years, those picks from Colorado and Teddy Ruth will not help next year, or the year after. The failure to get a #1 center for Nash is glaring and nobody can ignore that.
If Nash isn't satisfied in the next 2 years, he'll be in another jersey.

Mid first round and ted f'ing ruth. I'm excited and I can see the value. In 2011 or 12.....

Can't wait to see what we get for Peca and Vyborny - if you could pay someone to take Vybes.

Color me not impressed. I would rather have thrown them back out there for another couple of months.

I love Hitch, but if we keep what we have now, Hitch will probably still want to win and we won't have Brassard and Brule on the top lines. Sadly it's the route we have taken and Hitch might be better off treating the next month as practice for the younger guys.

I'm real curious to see what tomorrow brings.

Sheesh.

I offer the following to anyone who's so depressed as to actually use it (I created it just to have an excuse to play with GIMP's filters):

We can get a center and more this summer. Adding to that several of our young guys are going to excel next year so we should be in good shape. But you are correct, Howson must get a center for Nash before next season.

I'd like to see Peca, Vyborny and Brule moved as well.

That helps this team how? Last time I checked Hossa was a RW not a center.
