i have more faith in Price+Halak than i ever did in Huet.
do people forget who carried this team down the stretch last season, and gave them a chance to make the playoffs till the very end? HALAK!
do you remember who was in nets for that last game of the season that we needed to win to get to the playoffs? HUET!!
and do you remember that the habs were leading that game, and somehow huet let in way too many goals!
moreover, i felt that if Halak had of played against the leafs in that game, the habs moght have won and made the playoffs...but i guess its too bad
I for one am happy that huet is gone, and i am excited to see how price handles the pressure and performs. but i think i am more happy, that there is room for halak now, and look forward to seeing him play for the habs again!
Gainey had reached the point where he couldn't see Huet as the main man. Huet was making too much for a backup and Halak was being wasted. So what other option was there besides trading Huet? Those who don't like the return for him should realize that no GM was hungering for a goaltender and was willing to yield a first round draft pick or a top-half skater. Considering that there were surplus goaltenders on other teams (look around), it was a compliment to Huet that some GM took him. off Gainey's hands. If Price hasn't reached his prime just yet, he will in time. Even now he's on a par with Huet.
I actually think yes. One main reason I think he was weak sometimes was because he wasnt constantly getting starts like he did everywhere else in his career. Now he will, and I expect it to be kind of like his journey to Hamilton... first few starts are okay, then much better.
