Payoff from a year ago??

It is easy for many of us to remember the Trade Deadline last year.
What an emotional ride.
Lowe took a big kick in the ribs from many fans who were sad that we had lost Ryan Smyth.
It's exactly one year later , and who scores the shootout goal???
One of the 3 pieces of the Ryan Smyth puzzle.

Hats off to Robert Nillson, taking the 3rd shot in a shootout was Ryan's spot but ...
You did well...
Goodbye Ryan, we will all miss you and we hope you all the best...
but if you really wanted to be here , you would be.

Your spot has been picked up by a great young Oiler and 2 others that we all hope will help to erase the hurt we all felt one year ago...
Good luck Ryan.. You will always be an Oiler to us but....
The torch has been passed, Great Game Robert!!!
And Thank You!!!

I'm glad we don't have a 15g 6.5M player on our roster.

With the exception of Sourey..

Wow, have you ever thought of being a playwright? You have talent. In one simple post, you make us laugh , cry , gag a little .

While Smyth may go on to win the cup this year (they are contenders now I think - they've done incredibly well with so many key injuries - all of whom are coming back) I am still very glad to have gotten what we got for him. 6.5 is way too much for him. Lowe will continue to be redeemed for not signing him (although, he'll be ostracized for Souray and Penner (maybe).

The one thing i never understood was that if Ryan was so heart broken about leaving edmonton why he wouldnt have taken a pay cut.. he wanted the money more than staying here.. crying and all

With that being said I'm happy he's on a cup contending team, I always liked his positive and hardcore attitude to the team.

Also.. its time to let go people.. most people moved on a week later.
