Sharks game a sell out?

Do you think the Wed. game vs. the Sharks will be a sell out?

If we get big bad Brad, yes, if not, then no.

Does anyone know if they are doing anything for Shelley? I might go just to show my appreciation & to say goodbye.

I'd like to think that but reality tells me that if the Richards trade does indeed happen, most of the borderline CBJ bandwagon fans will be saying.....Brad who?

The buzz words will be "Stanley Cup MVP". The Jackets would most certainly play that up as much as possible.

I agree. Richards is not a household name. Most bandwagon fans won't know him. It wouldn't be like the Feds trade a few years ago. Everyone had heard of Federov. Having said that if we can get Richards I'm all for it. It still wouldn't result in us making the playoffs though. We need a lot of help from a lot of other teams. We need to root for Detroit and Dallas against everyone.

It would have to be "Stanley Cup MVP" because most bandwagoners wouldn't know what the hell the Conn Smythe is.

We have only sold out one game this year, and I don't think it was a true sellout. This is a Wed. night game and I very highly doubt it. They probably would have had to couple it somehow with the Arnold Fitness Expo.

No way this one's selling out. Like I said before, hockey fans in C-Bus aren't attracted to certain players but to certain teams (Detroit, Original 6 minus Chicago). Plus the fact that the Jackets have played pathetically at home of late will deter most casual fans from going as well. Brad Richards will have little affect on the attendence of this game.

I hope they don't.
As much as I like Shelley, we need to be totally focused on beating the Sharks.
And...Hitch says he hates distractions on game nite.

So, what?

Does the crowd boo/cheer/act indifferently when Shelley has the puck? Do you applaud when they announce his name?

We'll just have to stay tuned...

The stupid people will. Yes, he was a big part of the franchise/community/etc., but he's playing AGAINST YOUR TEAM. Last time I checked, we don't cheer for Beauchemin, Marchant, Whitney, Spacek, Sanderson, Richardson, Sillinger, etc.

but none of them are Shelley. Do you realize that he probably brought in half our attendance? People came to see the fearless Shelley knock someone on their a$$

With due respect, I think the situation is a little different.
Even those on this board that were indifferent to Shelley's leaving were questioning his departure after we went on a losing skid. Maybe he contributed more to the team than was realized.

I'm not thinking that people will be cheering for him all night. I just think there are plenty who want to show their appreciation by cheering him before the game starts. Don't know how that would unfold, but it would be nice to publicly recognize his past contributions.

I think that's a stupid statement. I think the "stupider" people would be anyone that thinks to boo Shelley. I hate that mentality of booing ex-players for no reason other than they used to play for your team (Detroit fans booing Fedorov who won them Cups). And fans wonder why some players don't always stay loyal to teams and go where the money is, many fans aren't loyal to the players in the first place.

Shelley gave his heart to this team, he deserves to have fans clap and/or cheer when his name is announced, I bet the players on our team will. I'm not saying that I'll be cheering Shelley if he scores a goal. Once it's gametime, he's just the opposition and we need to only think about cheering our team to victory.

Yes, but now those same people have this Jared Boll guy to do the exact same thing. Maybe less of that "leadership" quality that gets thrown around like crazy, but to the casual fan that part doesn't matter.

I can see them briefly showing him on the Sharks bench during a TV timeout maybe, just for a quick applause, but I'm just incredibly fearful of our in-game entertainment handing out #45 posters with a 10-minute video presentation as his number is raised to the rafters. Yes, overkill on my part, but you get the idea.
