Jeff is beginning to take it to a whole nother level. His jump has been unbelievable and he's been a breakaway machine. When he gets control of that howitzer that he unloads, he's going to be a true untouchable. BTW, I've never been a huge Carter supporter. The talent is really beginning to show through with the increased minutes. Do not lose this guy Homer.
Man he has been stepping up big time with the injuries. He plays like he has the last few games for an entire year he could be a 40 goal scorer!!!! Keep it up Carts!

It's not his scoring or shooting for that matter that I have been impressed with lately. He's playing with a mean streak lately...he's been physical, skating extremely well and has been so strong on the puck.

Thats what he can do when he is given the role...with all the injuries he is getting his chance to play the important minutes and getting his head in the game and building up his confidence, only problem is how his role will probably diminish when everyone gets back...to bad he will have to be buried on the third line behind Richie which is alright and Minus 24 Briere WOW!!
I wonder why he was not playing like that before. Yes he is getting less time then Richards or Briere but he does get 17-18min per game.
He played like that for a two or three week period after Richards was given a dump truck full of money and a basement full of chained up Chinese prostitutes.
we just have to figure out how to get someone from the other team to throw a cheap punch or fashwash early in the game to get him pissed. He plays better when he's mad. Much like the incredible hulk, jules needs a pic pre-hulk, saying "you won't like me when i'm angry" The look on his face when he snapped against the pens was awsome. Much better than the passive stare he usually has.

LOL
That's so random.
Anyway, you know Carter has undergone a transformation when he almost gets into a fight (Senators game). He's really flourishing under the increased minutes; maybe this could cause Briere to be changed to wing. If he keeps producing like this, you can't give him 3rd line minutes again.
if we make the playoffs and we get everyone except gagne back, that is going to be a pretty stacked top 12. i have no problem with us rolling 3 lines and then that 4th one in there too. carter's "3rd line minutes" won't be a whole lot different than the 1st or 2nd line minutes. richards gets a little more time than carter because of the PP - the ones where the first unit plays for the first 1:40. richards also may pk just a little bit more, but not by a whole lot.
Yeah, i can totally understand that. But perhaps with all the guys hurt, he actually felt like he needed to step up his play. Maybe someone should tell him to try play like its all up to him (only when hes on the ice )
NHL centers should not be losing faceoffs like he does...regardless of what the stats say, no NHL center should be losing faceoffs cleanly like he does...I have more confidence in Thoreson when it comes to faceoffs.

If he gets that down then he'll be a fine center.
Hes still young too. He does need work on it, but lets hope he actually DOES work on it

NHL centers lose faceoffs cleanly all the time. Carter's not really much worse than any other center on the team in that regard.

Are team is pretty much crap at faceoffs but, then again, the mysteries of the faceoff are on par with the mysteries of the automatic transmission. There's a reason Yanic Perreault will always find himself on a team.

There's a better chance of him stepping up and helping secure a playoff spot than Danielle. Go Jeff!!!
as a (ex) leafs fan, i can tell you that kabs is a decent d-man who is made to look many times over a better player than he is due to the crap that surrounds him. he IS a great bargain at his price, however. but compared to mccabe or kubina who i anticipate will be moved for a bag of pucks in the offseason, he is essentially the only commodity that we have... **** man, i hate the leafs...

In a cap world I think an above average player (which Kabs certainly is) with a very nice contract is potentially much more valuable than an very good player with a UFA contract.
i see this as a similar situation to what happened this year in pittsburgh. when cindy went down, malkin went on a tear like nothing i've seen in a while. i think some guys just thrive in the spotlight; carter appears to be like that. w/ briere not producing and cannon injured, carter just said **** it, my turn (he actually said it on the bench right before he scored that goal in buffalo).
...that and the fact carter is getting almost 22min of ice per game lately
Carter looked good again. I am very happy with his play. I honestly hope we can resign him. Trading him for some d-man like Kabs who has 3 more years on his contract is just stupid..
I do not know all details but I hope Homer can work out a 4-5 year deal with him.

I really hope we can. I think if we sign him to that length we can have him at 4 mill or less. Has anyone heard on deal being made? Obviously he didnt trade Carter for a reason.
