Two Words: Paul Maurice

I have no doubt that MacT will finish out the season. My sincere hope is that Lowe wakes up and realizes that this team needs a change, not just in player personel, but in it's philosophy of ONLY hiring from inside the organization, or inside the inner circle of past Oiler greats.

MacT and Simmer should both go (I still think Huddy is doing a good job with guys like Semenov, Moores, who even knows what he does). I would hire the best available man, that being Paul Maurice. It can be argued that he helped take an average Carolina team to the finals, much further than this club has gone in over a decade.

MacT said after the loss to Colorado, that this team needed an infusion of energy and fresh legs. Then he completely changes his tune after beating a terrible Chicago team. He has a clear bias against Rita, and against players that don't play in the fashion that he did.

This season is lost, big deal. I think the optimism of the Heritage Classic and the decent begining of the season skewed some people's expectations, including mine. The young guys like Salmelainen, Rita, Hemksy, Stoll and Torres should be given a chance with lots of minutes. Unfortunately, that will likely be under the current coaching regime, one that any sensible person has to hope will be gone at the end of the season.

Yeah, that'd be super.

If you want to see our young players destroyed, a power-struggle with the GM, and a top 3 draft pick, that is.

If you want to see the team alienate the fans and run into the ground and moved to Portland, Keenan would definitely be the way to go as well.

either way with the current situation unfolding, fans are not going to support this team. i am slowly watching my favorite team implode and it makes me angry.

I don't necessarily want to see Maurice here, but I'd rather see Michael Jackson coaching here than MacT next year.

i'm 100% on board with maurice... he's a quality coach that could bring a solid system into edmonton. combine his brain with an up-tempo oilers game and you'd have some good hockey.

no, i'm not saying let maurice bring in a hard-lined trap. i'm saying let him bring in intelligent hockey with and actual system and combine it with a strong forechecking game.

the biggest problem with macT is that he has no system. it's just "chase the black thing around and blame the players when we lose"... that sucks and so does macT.

Too bad Red Deer rebels coach Brent Sutter didn't play a couple seasons with the Oilers.

Then he could qualify as a candidate.

Where did Duane Sutter go after Florida?
