It isnt the aford part, his contract is 2mil./per for 4 more years
the problem is he will want 1. more playing time 2. more money now that samuel got 9mil/per. He will most likely be traded since reid dosent want it to be a problem. however if we do keep him, i would love for him to be our returner.

Didnt they try him a little as a return guy before and he dropped too many?

I don't remember him dropping too many, I thought that he was tried as a return man while Vincent and Taylor were still here and then once they left and he became the starter at CB, I don't think he returned kicks again. It's unfortunate that, IMO, one of the best return men in the league is also our starting RB and 2nd best WR in Westbrook. I'd like to see him return more kicks

The Eagles identify who they want and go after them aggressively. Can't say I don't like that kind of approach, provided they are capable talent evaluators (they've had some hits and some misses in Free Agency during this regime, with the misses coming more recently).

So, what's the next position the Eagles should target in FA (provided the team isn't done signing players)?

I'm guessing defensive end or maybe a receiver.

but we would just need him as a nickel corner-smaller receivers and returner

Also I think we are going to address WR now- either trade or FA
--Moss has Eagles,Pats,Cowboys and Packers as final 4.

They do nbot need a DE-they think Abimiri is good-like all egales rookies he hardly played. They just signed clemons to help with passs rush

In the 1st round I think they will go OT- chris williams from vanderbilt

I'm going to the Bruins/Leafs game on Thursday. I wonder if the NFL can ship me a jersey by then. ;-)

Just read on the cnnsi.com rumours (Canadian spelling) section and it mentions that the Eagles are in talks with the Arizona Cardinals for Larry Fitzgerald. Looks like they're going to get Donovan a top receiver after all.

According to figures distributed to each NFL team this week, 24 of the 32 NFL teams were given upward cap adjustments for 2008, six teams were given downward cap adjustments (thanks to conventional incentives that were met) and two teams had no adjustments.

Of the 24 teams that gained more room under the cap, seven tacked on at least $10 million, a group led by the Vikings ($18,432,577), Eagles ($14,087,449), Buccaneers ($13,306,634), Bills ($12,713,009) and Browns ($12,633,503).

Not coincidentally, the Eagles, Vikings, Bills and Browns all made a splash on the first day of free agency.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...figures/1.html

You have to read the first page of the article to understand it but basically teams put unatainable bonouss in contracts so that they get that money counted in the next years cap. The eagles cap is $14,087,449 higher then the normal cap of $116,729,000.

So our cap room for this year is actually $130,816,449

and with runyan, thomas, spikes coming off the books next year that opnes up another 15 mil

The Eagles had around $31-$35 mil this year depending who you talk to, take out Samuel's 10 Mil leaves us with around $21 Mil. Put about $5 Mil towards the draft that leaves us with around $16 Mil. We have something like 49 out of 52 Spots signed for next season. We can afford Fitz if we had to, but I doubt it happens.

The Eagles and Cards have discussed trades for Fitz alot in that last couple of weeks, Arizona's offer was called absurd. I heard it was a 1st, 3rd, Lito ,and a WR.

Fitz makes $31 Million over the next two season because of ridiculous incentives that The Cards included in his contract that they didn't think he would get. $14 Mil this year and $17 Mil next. He would have to have his contract reworked obviously.

Not going to make a difference if bonehead Reid is still calling the plays and McNabb doesnt know when to get rid of the ball.

Eagles willing to match but not exceed Pats offer
http://gcobb.com/content/view/1131/2/

Andy Reid was on the telephone this afternoon for over an hour with Randy Moss but he wasn't able to talk him into turning down a 3 year $27 million deal with Patriots. Moss decided to stay put where he is with the Patriots. Reid and the Eagles weren't willing to better the offer from the Pats.

Randy Moss-WR- Patriots Mar. 3 - 8:40 pm et

Profootballtalk.com reports that Randy Moss chose New England over the Eagles "at the wire." The Eagles reportedly offered more money.

It was reportedly a day of "high drama" with both teams believing they had Moss in the fold at various times. Ultimately, Moss was afraid to leave a place he was so happy with. Philly's aggressive play indicates they could get in the mix later this offseason for Chad Johnson or Roy Williams.

Report: Moss was almost an Eagle

March 3, 2008 7:25 PM

The Boston Herald is reporting that Randy Moss came within a hair of signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Quoting a source, the newspaper's Web site said that Moss and the Eagles negotiated throughout the weekend and that Philadelphia thought it had him locked down at one point.

Can you imagine how Patriots fans would've reacted had the Eagles landed cornerback Asante Samuel and Moss in free agency? It appears that the Giants' Super Bowl title has lit a fire underneath the Eagles.

The NFC East would've been unbelievable with T.O., Moss and Plaxico Burress. Donovan McNabb would've had his first viable target since T.O. left town in 2005.

OK, I have to hit the road. Snow on the way.

Asante Samuel, free agency, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Plaxico

TBH, I'd much rather have Williams or Fitzgerald right now or even Ocho Cinco.

1) Fitzgerald
2) Ocho Cinco
3) Moss
4) Roy Williams

this would be my preference if they were all available.
