They wish they could have him. They already had their chance twice and Gainey rejected them both times...

Apparently The Leafs want a proven guy.
And I want a 6'2" right-handed center. Tough ****.

Leafs

Money talks, and the Leafs have a lot of it. However, Gainey is useless without Timmins and his staff.. so .. they'd have to take a few people to make it worth it.
I think Dryden as Pres. wanted to hire Ganey as GM, shuffling Quinn to coaching only, but Quinn had enough chips with part of the ownership group to block the move.

Good idea !

Let him go to Toronto and than he could deal their best elements for average players and few future first draft choices , and than he could give his notice after 6 months and resign with the Habs the next season .

Gainey is God in Montreal. The Leafs don't have anyone they can consider "God". Their roster turnover is ridiculous. Sundin might be the only long-term player they have. Maybe they can make Tucker the GM, a la Garth Snow in Long Island. Or maybe Mats will be the new GM. He seems pretty savvy in making intelligent hockey moves...

How about if the Leafs get Stamkos, we'll trade Gainey for him?

Oh yeah... just a little something to rub in the face of the Leafs.

Gainey wont leave montreal. He lives in montreal, 3 of his 4 child are living in montreal right now, he has a good team has all he flexibility in the world, he is a loyal hab. Theres zero advantages for gainey to go to toronto has a gm.

It is just funny as though the Leafs are the hockey team version of Ricky Bobby 1st or Last nothing else.

*pukes* Let me rephrase that- I want a good 6'2" right-handed center. Younger than 36 would be a plus, too.

If Gainey goes to the Leafs every single member of the HF community can come give me a swift kick in the balls.

Apparently the whole family celebrated at Hurley's last Saturday night. Maybe they skipped out on their bill.

Maybe the Leafs can hire Mahovolich or Kelly from their last cup team in 1967.

As a guy I used to work with used to say

"How old will you be in 2067?"
"2067! Your team hasn't even been born yet!"

The Leafs should roll up the rim to win a new GM.

He can be as bald as he wants, as long as he can win faceoffs, skate, hit, play defensively, and occasionally put the puck in the freaking net. Smoke is sadly lacking in most of those categories.

I said under 36 was a plus- not necessary. Hell, I'd trade Brisebois for Chelios any day.

This is just the Toronto media's/TSN way of trying to spoil the Habs Karma, they can go s***w themselves, but as long as the leaves continue to pick up points and don't get a lottery pick(but not make the playoffs of course)I'm happy

They can stick a lead pipe somewhere in the nether regions. He won't leave given that he has already started something in Habland. A sane GM would never leave to go to a place where there is a dysfunctional chain of command.

A friend of ours had hers reversed a year or so ago, quite the process as she so graphically explained to us.
