I feel sorry for Ersberg. If this situation had happened at the beginning of the season he would be getting much more press and attention.

Who knows maybe he could play himself into a spot somewhere....

Its probably not a bad deal for him to come in at this time of the season with a little less pressure.

major pressure on poor Ersberg at the end there. Man he did a great job in his first official start!

In this game, Ersberg has looked so much better than the beachball has in the games that he's played. I sooooo hope that DL buys DC out this summer.

After watching Cloutier flop last night, and Ersberg tonite, its shocking to see how much more athletic this kid is. Too bad he was hung out to dry in OT, the Kings were either outclassed, didn't care or both.

Even though he didn't get the win, it was a good effort from the Mullet.

So Ersberg and LaBarbera as the one-two punch in net for 07-08, Bernier and one of Taylor or Quick in Manchester and who cares where Cloutier ends up.

I wonder how bad LaBarbera is health wise.

I could see Bernier up in the NHL with either Ersberg/LaBarbera or some UFA for backup....

I worry about having another 3 goalie rotation, in the NHL or AHL. It doesn't help the young goaltenders from a development point of view when they have to sit every other night. Goaltenders have to keep playing and seeing pucks to stay on top of their game.

I believe LaBarbera is signed for one more season. Thankfully the Cloutier contract expires next summer. Ersberg was signed to a one-year deal, so he would have to be re-signed.

I think it is better for Bernier and one of Taylor or Quick to be the tandem in net in Manchester, so either Ersberg has to be with the Kings next season or he's heading home to Sweden where he could be a starter.

Fixed.

Ersberg played awesome tonight - that is two very impressive performances in two appearances, both OT losses and both goals he can't be faulted on. I really hope DL has found a diamond in the rough here...that would make me very happy. As it stands right now, I hope he gets the bulk of the load from here on out just so we can see what he can do night in and night out.

I think Ersberg was signed as just a long-shot backup. This could be is only real chance to show what he can do both to the Kings and the NHL as a whole.

I'm not sure our organization really allows people to work their way into spots... Next year if Ersberg plays well in the next few games does DL have the guts to give him a shot?

i have a very low trust level of King's goalies but yes he has had more than one opportunity and he looked good in both of them. I agree, a few more starts would be good!

I thought he had another year.... I try to block out everything that has to do with Cloutier out of my mind.

I just can't believe he can play his badly and STILL be in the NHL.

yes thanks thats right. I think it was signed in september 2006 but the two year extension to start after that season. I suppose some wishful thinking on my part.

That'd be more like a "one-two slap," I would think . The Kings' net hasn't had any "punch" in nearly a decade and probably won't until Bernier delivers if it (if he can).

Yeah, I'm setting my standards VERY low for next season so I would at the very least be pleasantly surprised, happy and satisfied if the Kings accomplish anything next season.

As of now, all I can enjoy is watching the development and progression of a number of young stars. I don't want to worry whether or not these players become superstars in another city, but that day will come someday. It's inevitable with this team.
