Do you play hockey right-handed or left-handed?

i was thinking about the number of left handed shooters there are in the league. It seems like the majority of shooters shoot left handed. But the vast majority of goalies are right handed. I wonder why this is.

They catch left.. Umm that's the key thing for goalies.

Righty that shoots left. I think cause I played hockey first, I also bat left. @_@

I think the younger people are that start playing hockey, the more likely they'll be a left-handed shot.

Yep, it's because the dominant hand on a hockey stick is the upper one, so it should be that righties end up left and lefties end up right.

I'm not so sure about that because practically all of Canada starts playing hockey about a week after they can walk (or sooner) and there are still plenty of righties. More lefts for sure, but there are still quite a few rights.

I'm a righty who shoots right and left. I taught myself how to shoot left over the course of the last few months, and it's actually worked. It feels really weird at first, but you get used to it to the point where you don't feel uncomfortable with it.

Yeah, me too. Alot of people make fun of me for that. Not sure how that happened either, started playing both when I was the same age.

I don't understand how righties can shoot right, I find it awkward holding my stick in my left hand.

left handed in hockey, right handed in everything else, including golf.
