so do i, but i think if they hold the game at yankee stadium and play boston there will be a larger buzz of intrest because of the boston ny rivalry and the fact that it will be the last sporting event ever in yankee stadium... a lot more buzz potentially then holding the game at giants stadium although it would definitely generate more in terms of gate revenue
lets get through this season before talking bout next season, when we win the cup this year whocares who we play and stuff like that, wow doooo i feel positive
i don't think the nhl wants the debbies in this game anyway, i mean no disrespect here but when you go to a rangers/debbies game at the rock and years past at CAA there's a ton of rangers fans and this is well known it's a moot point. if they had rangers/debbies it would mostly be all rangers fans, they have to get another original 6 team involved. boston would be ok, montreal and toronto meh because it would have more publicity in canada than the US, i think detroit, chicago, or boston would be ideal. probably detroit because the casual fan knows they're good unlike chicago which has stunk it up the last 10 years or more even though they have some good young talent which means jack in ratings.

I know Shea doesn't really hold a candle to Yankee Stadium in terms of mystique/history/etc, but I somewhat wish they would play it there instead. Assuming the seats are still movable, the views would probably be a lot better.

I thoughts Rangers vs Icelanders would have been better suited at Shea anyway. Keep Rangers vs Boston in the Bronx.
I think the set-up should have one end of the ice at the Home plate area and another end of the ice in the centerfield area
It would provide a much better set of sight lines for stadium as a whole as it would give fans an opportunity to sit at the center ice on both sides of the arena as opposed to just one side (the hope plate side if set-up the other way)
As for the opponent, as nice a thought it is to play a local team like the Islanders or Devils, the NHL needs to include a team that is not so close to address a broader based fan group.
I think that Boston or Toronto should eb the choices. Both are Original 6 Match-ups that can be pimped, Toronto, the self proclamed center of the Hockey universe would be just as good a selection as any othe rteam.
The Home and home with Beantown is an other nice thought, but we want to keep these games nostalgic and 2 games in one year starts the old-hat phase.
I think that Toronto is is going to be the choice and the reason is that the thought was that they were going to go back and forth between a Canadian City and a US City, the fact that we are jumping them by going back to back in a US City would lead me to think that to appease the Canadian fan base, we would need to include a Canadian team and as mentioned Montreal has already done this, another Original 6 team from Canada should be the logical choice.
