It seems he is not really playing well in Syracuse right now. May have an attitude problem since he got sent down? He needs to buck up and play his ass off. Tired of the first round picks that expect to be in the big club.
Calder....is that you MacLean?? Haaa. Lets just get him to score a few goals first. Lets leave the pressure of the Calder to some other kid. See what happened to Brule and the Calder talk? We dont need that again.
I don't think we'll see him back, but its possible. Probably see a lot of the second tier AHL talent coming up as we have the last week--Hitch and Howson are no doubt continuing their audit of the system to make some decisions going into the offseason. At this point its about evaluating our talent and (as a side effect) improving our draft position.
I'll abstain as I have an ad hominem connection to the matter.

To answer thew question I don't think it would have anything to do with anything but the Calder unless (and this is a big unless) in his deal there is a provision for this season should he play more than a certain number of games. I don't know if they are able to do this with entry level deals anymore but it could be something along those lines.
Besides the fact he isn't ready to be here yet, there is absolutely no reason to have him playing up here this year anymore. It would be different if he could be a difference maker in the team making the playoffs or not. But he was being healthy scratched when he was here.
I also think it would be a big thing for this team to have a rookie vying for an NHL award. So why waste his opportunity by playing meaningless games to play out the season.
And next season him and Voracek can share the Calder
Sorry when I said Calder im not saying he deserves it or we should hope for I was asking does the Rookie status grant you anything but making you eligble for Calder?
Like contract pay or length of term or something along those lines.
If he stays up too long, it will trigger the first year of his contract so basically he'd hit RFA & UFA status one year earlier. There's no reason to lose a year just so he can play the last 13 games in a season that's going nowhere.
