Bring Brass back up?

I loved it when Brassard was here. But I was thinking about the 21 game rule.

Currently he has played 17 games with the big club do we bring him back up even though it will ruin his Rookie Status next year?

Does Rookie Status do anything but make him eligable for Calder?

Other thoughts?

It seems he is not really playing well in Syracuse right now. May have an attitude problem since he got sent down? He needs to buck up and play his ass off. Tired of the first round picks that expect to be in the big club.

Calder....is that you MacLean?? Haaa. Lets just get him to score a few goals first. Lets leave the pressure of the Calder to some other kid. See what happened to Brule and the Calder talk? We dont need that again.

Was impressed by his AHL play early this year.

Was not impressed with his NHL stint.

Am not impressed with his AHL play now.

Keep him there.

I don't think we'll see him back, but its possible. Probably see a lot of the second tier AHL talent coming up as we have the last week--Hitch and Howson are no doubt continuing their audit of the system to make some decisions going into the offseason. At this point its about evaluating our talent and (as a side effect) improving our draft position.

I'll abstain as I have an ad hominem connection to the matter.

Sorry when I said Calder im not saying he deserves it or we should hope for I was asking does the Rookie status grant you anything but making you eligble for Calder?

Like contract pay or length of term or something along those lines.

Pretty much a no brainer that Brassard stays in the AHL.

Well, he could win a Calder in the AHL if the 'Cuse could get their act together. Oh, different Calder.

Syracuse should make the playoffs so it's good for him to have some kind of playoff experience.

Is it me or was he sent down there pretty quiet like? I dont seem to remember the management or Hitch talking much about it. They kind of slid him in during Foote Gate.

Wow. There is a first for the board. Not implying anything directly towards you DSL merely what you have said by not saying anything.

Some others should take note.

To answer thew question I don't think it would have anything to do with anything but the Calder unless (and this is a big unless) in his deal there is a provision for this season should he play more than a certain number of games. I don't know if they are able to do this with entry level deals anymore but it could be something along those lines.

Besides the fact he isn't ready to be here yet, there is absolutely no reason to have him playing up here this year anymore. It would be different if he could be a difference maker in the team making the playoffs or not. But he was being healthy scratched when he was here.

I also think it would be a big thing for this team to have a rookie vying for an NHL award. So why waste his opportunity by playing meaningless games to play out the season.

And next season him and Voracek can share the Calder

Insert "dreaming" smilie.

If he stays up too long, it will trigger the first year of his contract so basically he'd hit RFA & UFA status one year earlier. There's no reason to lose a year just so he can play the last 13 games in a season that's going nowhere.

I think that yes. We have not good playmaker. My fiirst a second line:

Nash--Brassard--Fritsche
Chimera--Brulé--Žerdev

and with Modin:

Nash--Brassard--Fritsche
Modin--Brulé--Žerdev

what do you think?

I know we all loves Chims, but we REALLY need to have him as a third line staple. He's great at what he does, but he doesn't have the skill to play night in and night out with Zherdev.

Is it just me, or has Brassard just dropped off the face of the earth? I hope he gets his act together before next season starts..

I think he's discouraged and disappointed about being sent down.

And wasn't it Howson that said "once he's up he's staying" ?
