I'd love the guy to turn around and become a decent player, but it's just not going to happen and I don't understand why people have so much faith into him. He's not even improving, he's getting worse!

Yet he's always on the lineup

It's pretty sickening
I totally agree.. As I've stated before only reason why he makes the lineup is because of the QUOTA.

Guillaume Latendresse or "Carebear" really pisses me off

The guy can't score
Doesn't hit anybody
Doesn't fight
Doesn't stand up for his teammates
Can't forecheck
Can't Skate
Can't play defense

What the hell are you doing in this team you fu****** punk !!

Overall, HE IS USELESS !!!!!!

What does his being a a larval power forward have to do with standing up for Kovalev? Lucic is 19 but he would have done it.

As mentioned in another thread earlier this week, we can't send him to the minors but that is so what he deserves.

Ah, great. Lets trade teams with the Bruins! I mean, look at them! Tough as nails! They can beat just about anyone with their grit! Tough teams are the best teams!

GRIT GRIT GRIT GRIT GRIT GRIT GRIT GRIT...

Lats needs to be benched. Simple as that. Stop overreacting like... Habs fans.

your bias is clouding your reason. The Ducks were the grittest team in the NHL playoffs last year. THEY WON THE CUP. As a poster said earlier Lats has alot of Breeze-by fabric softner in him.........if he can't excercise that he will not make it in the bigs. As for Lucic he will always have a place in the NHL if he continues to play the way he has........WITH HEART.

Yeah, and the year before, everybody was trying to copy the Sabres' young, energetic, guns-a-blazing offense.

It's BS, if the habs win the cup, the new trend'll be "No superstars is the way to win"?

Yeah, the Ducks had grit, but they also had Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne, Pronger, Neidermayer, JS Giguere, etc. They had and still have a ton of skilled players. That's why they won (also helps when your good players are all 6'5" and that's not grit, that's height).

If the whole "grit" wins theory worked, you should win with a team full of Begins. Which isn't true. The new NHL is all about speed and skill. How many traditional "power forwards" are there in the NHL right now? How many are in the top 30 scorers?

What, you think I was joking around ?! you don't agree with me ?!

Latendresse shouldn't be in NHL and be the AHL instead by this time, it's not even a joke.

Why would any GM copy the Sabres who have won nothing, nada, zilch. GM's look for winning formulas. What better template (hockey 101) than take a look at the Cup winners.

There are 4 rounds of hockey and every year we see the same thing, the flash and dance teams are gone in the first rounds. Grit gets you to the 7th game and it weeds out the soft heartless players.

They went to the eastern conference final two years in a row. Won the President trophy last year. They would have went to the Stanley Cup final had they not lost almost all their Ds to injuries against Carolina.

I don't even have to say this because EVERYBODY was saying this a year ago. The New NHL, speed, skill, etc. No grabbing, no more gooneries, etc.

That's because all the teams in the league stole their players!

If you're trying to tell me that NHL teams aren't building around skill and speed but grit, size and goons instead, I think you're sadly mistaken.

If you think Getzlaf is a goon you need to get to more games, start talking to people.
As far as your point goes don't take my word for it look at last years Cup winner.

You can take the Danny Briere's in the NHL and I'll take the Getzlaf's I'll win the war of attrition you'll get lots of goals until the going gets tough.

Oh no a game misconduct, atleast he would be on the score sheet, he might even get suspended that is if he isnt a healthy scratch next game.

Amen to that Koivu>Briere, especially at half the price.

Daniel Briere is a bad example.

Funny you didn't use Sidney Crosby. I'd take a team full of Wayne Gretzky's anyday of the week. You can have a big grit celebration but they won't be able to catch Gretzky. They are gonna just look stupid. I know you mean "Gritty with Talent" vs. Talent, but lets be realistic here.

You need a balance of speed, skill, intelligence, grit and heart. However, talent is a lot more important than grit or heart. You can have all the heart and grit in the world. Hell, the 1999 Buffalo Sabres were gritty to the bone. However, remove Hasek and Satan and they are absolutely pathetic. Just watch how the Ducks played this year without Selanne and Neidermayer. Not very impressive.

There is nothing wrong with being tough, but team toughness trumps player toughness. There are different reasons you can be tough, and just because you're soft doesn't mean you can't win. Lats would just be a big body if he didn't have his soft hands, and I believe in the long run of his career, those soft hands will be what makes him a great player, not his big body. Over time he'll be more confident in laying the body. He is currently 85th in hits. Not bad.
