3 teams interested in Perreault

I know that Radio sources don't usualy hold up on these boards but...

On The Team 990 (Montreal) about 3 minutes ago:

Pierre Mcguire said that he has heard that at least three teams are interested in Yannic Perreault and are willing to make a deal right now... that Perreault's no trade clause might get in the way of an eventual deal.

I guess Gainey may not want to trade him (and keep him as an insurance policy in case of injury) since there are teams out there who want Perreault.

Perreault doesn't have a no trade clause. It was only for the first two years.

Actually I just heard that too also . I'm listening to it right now at 5.25 pm est . I always thought Yanic had a no trade clause in his first 2 years of his contract . If anybody can confirm it could Pierre McGuire . Maybe Calgary could be one of those teams .

I also think that Perreault doesn't have a no trade clause... but Pierre Mcguire mentioned one and he was talking about Perreault at the time.

...and Pierre Mcguire does have more credibility than I do...

You have 198 posts on a HF Board. You have FAR more credibility than him!

Nice avatar, Heathen. Good to see the TPB getting some recognition across the country.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Devils pick Perreault up although I doubt Lou deals within the conference. He'd be a decent offensive addition and would immediately be centering the top line or the second line. The guy wins a pile of faceoffs and despite his reputation among the prestigious judges of talent on HF, he's still a solid player.

I think it's simply the Montreal media trying to drive up Perreault's trade value. Who knows? It may work...

Although Mcguire resides in Montreal, I don't think he qualifies as Montreal media. His main gig is TSN and it's nation wide.

Besides, if you were right that would take huge credibility away from him and an entire city's media. These people would be regarded as having no integrity in their profession. That's a pretty big risk to take just to boost Perreault's trade value don't you think? It's not their job to con people to help out Gainey; their job is to inform.

Depends on the teams needs. Yes I think he sucks, cause he's too soft, slow and is poor in his own end. But how many players in the NHL have averaged 25 goals and over 51 points over the last 3 years? I don't think Perreault will get traded cause he is so poor in his own end, but for a team looking for a guy that can put the puck in the net, especially on the PP, and is the best face-off guy around. But he's having a poor season, and at 2.8M (well I guess it's around 1M left on his contract) I can't see his value being all that high unless a team is desperate. He does have a nice shot if someone can get him the puck, which is why he does well on the PP, but his soft play and lack of effort should make most teams think twice about picking him up either this year, or over the summer as a UFA.

Good news - my sources have identified the three teams (and there are three only I can confirm also) interested in YP. These are:

Avangard Omsk
Nottingham Panthers
Watrous Winterhawks

Montreal is where NJ got Malakhov from. The Souray deal as I recall. So, Lou can deal within the conference and with Montreal near the deadline. Though montreal being in the playoffs as it stands (and likely to get in), they may not want to deal Perrault. As hard as that is too beleive. Perrault, in the playoffs, could be extremely useful for his face off capabilities.

I was rockin a Ricky avatar a while back and saw another guy with a J-Roc one... TPB is too funny. I've got the first 2 seasons on dvd, can't wait for the next season to start.

As for Perreault, his no trade clause ended after last season I think. 3 teams interested? A mid-level pick would be good enough for me.

People forget that. I think Perrault is better then most people give him credit for.

Look at some other teams 2nd line centres...

I'm no fan of Perreault, but he does have his assets. He can chip in offensively and is excellent on faceoffs. However, he is soft and weak defensively. Makes a bundle, too. The Habs wouldn't get too much for him IMO, and might not even be able to get any takers unless they offer to eat some of his salary.

Well, he's no better than Larionov or Brylin. The Elias and Gomez experiment worked for a while, then fizzled, then worked again...and fizzled agian. Burns knows that whatever offense he gets will have to be spread out. Any center that can win over 60% of his faceoffs with Elias on his line is good. The more Elias has the puck, the more dangerous the Devils are.

Yes. That was nearly four years ago. Other deadline deals involving EC teams include: None of any importance. Even the Leafs deals were done when the Leafs were in the WC. I know Lou has dealt within the conference at the deadline before. But if you look at his dealing history, you'll be hard pressed to find many EC deals.

-Grant Marshall (WC)
-Alexander Mogilny (WC)
-Jeff Freisen+Oleg Tverdovsky (WC)
-Jamie Langenbrunner+Joe Nieuwendyk (WC)
-Mike Danton (WC)
-Attempted to deal for Selanne last year at the deadline (WC)

There are only a handful of trades Lou has made with EC teams and even now, I can only think of one made recently. That's the Richard Smehlik rental. Cost Lou a 4th rounder if I remember correctly.

Koivu came back with only a few games to play in the regular season. Gilmour only played well during the 2nd half of the season. Perreault had a good season with what...27 goals I think.
