Do you guys speak Russian as well?
Have you been able to keep up with this kid?
He hasn't been getting that much coverage because of the changes and few controversies that have surrounded the RSL.

He already speaks English and French.
His mom is handling his career and wants to get him to N.A. as fast as possible.

I must've missed Svitov's "big" years

(I assume you were referring to draft position)

He was damn impressive at the WJC, lots of potential. Just looked really small out there.

I think he will slide like Cherepanov also. Because of the no transfer agreement. Pretty sure he doesn't last until we draft thou...hope not anyway....we've had enough trouble with the Perezhogin and Elemin to draft another one

1) He will be gone before we draft.(Hes currently ranked 2nd by a couple of centrals, he went way up)
2) He wont slide because he will be in the NHL(or AHL) next year, his mother is pretty much as anti-RSL as you can get.

If the Isles don't get Stamkos, I'd love for them to get Filatov..

That team has no offensive superstars or players as far as the eye can see.

I do, but haven't seen the kid in action. Here is what scouts think about him:
Quote:
An NHL scout was kind enough to contact McKeen's shortly after he got back from the U-18 5-Nations Cup in Finland today. Here were his impressions on the tournament's most notable participants. From Team Sweden and Team USA.

Nikita Filatov (2008), F
- "He's a star...he really is. He's awesome. He showed that he cares, backchecked hard. He has great hands, skates well. He's a scorer…loves to shoot. He's got great hands around the net. The US beat them...but this guy, he played hard. You're (McKeen's) not wrong on this guy being sixth overall. I like him ahead of Beach...and you know I hate Russian guys. This guy's better than Beach, he's the second best forward in the draft...and actually might be more dynamic than Stamkos.. He can makes plays....wow. I heard he might have a four-year contract in Russia. You find that out at the combine. If you get this guy over next year you will have a helluva player. This guy's legit."

The four year contract in Russia part is the scariest part about him

You never know, but yes it is unlikely.

I actually looked that up and that's actually true he does speak 4 languages because his mom is a language teacher. His parents don't want him to go through what Malkin had to go through and I think his contract expires this year because he signed a 4 year contract with CSKA when he was 14. The Filatov-Anisimov-Cherepanov line was pretty good during the juniors.

I've seen a couple of games of Tomas Knotek and while his deficiencies are already well known, this kid should go much higher than what his ranking is right now. Too many offensive abilities to pass on.

He's like a Ribeiro, very one dimensional, boom or bust type pick(not big or strong and not great skating)...I can't see him going before the 50th pick. There are guys with as much talent and more well rounded game available.

Just noticed Stef wasn't in ISS top 30 rankings...others that may be around at 25th or so....Joe Colbourne, David Toews. Wonder if the Hawks would be interested in trading down to take Toews?

Its way to big a trade down imo, unless they trade up with their 2nd rounder.(I didnt check their available picks either)

Joe Colbourne has been a bad rating recently for lackluster performances

Will be going to the Gaints playoff game this weekend. I will write a report on James Wright, I'm interested to see how he fares in the playoffs. If there is anyone you guys want me to check out than drop me a line. It should be Vancouver vs. Chilliwack...not the most intriguing as far as prospects go. But should be good hockey nonetheless.

I'm not sure myself about him(consistency-wise), in fact after the top 18 of this draft, the "2nd round" starts, a good group of players with potential but no sure things. It will be hard to find 3 NHLers out of this draft.
