JJ is Brad Stuart 2.0... Blake is going to retire. Lubo is inconsistent. As for the rest... garbage. Thankfully they dumped Brad Stuart 1.0 and Modry at the deadline. There's also very little down the prospect pipeline (DL admitted this) other than Harrold + Hickey and if they don't pan out they'll be forced to overpay for crappy UFA D-men.

One of their forwards should be traded for the likes of Suter or Weber or similar. It needs to happen or DL is an idiot.
Are you sure it's DL that's the idiot?

Dude. Are you sure you follow the Kings? For a couple of months, maybe? It doesn't seem like you're aware of some of the most obvious things.

1. JJ has played very well this season, he's doing nicely for a newly turned 21 y. o. rookie.

2. Blake isn't going to retire, not anytime soon. He's said that he wants to play for another year, at least. It's looking like it might be in L.A., again, for better or for worse.

3. Some parts of the second half of the season, Stuart was one of our best d-men, just outside of Johnson. Most fans were hoping that he'd re-sign, instead of getting traded, but that didn't work out. Consistency is his biggest issue, and Dean's hinted at bringing him back for next year.

4. Lubo's play has been absolutely mind-boggling. Everyone knows that. Hopefully it's a confidence thing and he'll come back to form for next season...

5. Harrold's a good 4-5 d-man, and Hickey is just a prospect.

The Kings do need to trade for one tough d-man in the Summer, someone who'll fit in nicely with the young guys.

The rest depends on drafting well, and the Kings don't have a problem in that area.

Frolov is just too productive and cap friendly to be traded. He's the best player on the team and dealing him would be a big step back for their offense, even if it meant adding a piece like Kronwall to the backend.

i was with you up until your assessment of Peter Harrold... he's more of a 6/7 with a window that is starting to close on his maxing out as a #4.

"nicely for a newly turned 21 y. o. rookie" is nice way of saying "he sucks, but he's learning."

He's not in the league of other Edler, EJ (younger), Enstrom, Gilbert, Staal(same age), Niskanen who have excelled on mostly poor teams. JJ is way overrated. He'll be a nice #3-4 that can smash players around. The offense isn't there right now, but should come. All these EJ vs. JJ comparisons can be easily answered now.

Another year is close to "going to retire" because when the young D are ready to take on the Getzlafs and Crosbys, Blake will be gone. D-men take longer to develop than forwards. Usually 2-3 years to be useful....

Stuart being the best D-man on the Kings isn't saying much is it? With Modry, Blake, Preissing, Lubo (this year)... Heck, Blake has be pretty solid for stretches too.

I like Stuart's physical play, but he's not reliable. He was no different in Calgary. He's at best #3-4... but should be used as a #5-6 and on special teams.

I'd try to get Bouwmeester (if he wants out of Florida) for Frolov. It hurts, but the time to draft and develop a D-man is too long and you could have a bust.

Note to DL: Don't sign Redden. That's another inconsistent D-man.

Only 2 of those guys arent playing on a playoff team or a team fighting for the playoffs. The guy is in his first year pro and hes already ddomed to be a #4 guy. The whole reason the offense isnt there is because the coaching staff has had him on a tight leash all season long.
