NJ Shakeup Proposal

If NJ were to package Madden & C. White, whom could they get in return to improve the Devils?

Thanks.

IMO, stick with them. They aren't in their prime yet. Well, certainly not White anyways.

NJ couldn't get enough in return to fill the spots they already hold. IMO, trading Madden & White would be considered a sign of "blowing up the team" and that won't happen since NJ is a contender.

Why Madden? Its stupid to trade him away and there is absolutely no chance of it happening. He's too important to the team.

White could easily be packaged off with other pieces to bring back somebody that can score but why move John Madden? He's a young leader that has filled Bobby Holik's spot and then some.

Unless Lou gets on some good crack, then I dont see him moving these two guys because it would serious ruin their cup chances which are in question with Stevens' status unknown.

White is a solid top 4 defenseman. Takes some dumb penalties, but he's still young and reminds everyone of a young Ken Daneyko: slow, tough, useless offensively and sound defensively. A hard checker.

Madden is the best two way forward in the game, not to mention part of the soul of NJ. He's not going anywhere unless we get a GREAT return, and I mean a Stanley Cup in a box.

You know, there's a 3 time Selke winner down in Dallas that probably doesnt agree with that statement

Lehtinen is great and yes we heard Modano = God sing his praises all last season along with the rest of the Dallas Stars roster, but for my money John Madden should have won the Selke for 2002-2003 hands down. The job he did through four rounds in the playoffs further cements this mindset.

Lehtinen is a great player, defensively and offensively. Madden is better right now, and will be for the foreseeable future.

John Madden is clutch. No way he's being dealt.

The Devils will not trade Madden, he is part of the core of their team. Same with White, top 4 Dman.

If the Devils were moving Madden (AND THEY AREN'T!), I'd be more than happy to give the Devils' just about anything they desire for the guy. Especially if I was a team such as the Wings. If I was the Wings, I'd gladly hand over a guy like Zetterberg or Fischer & a 1st rounder for the guy. Heck, maybe more.

Speaking of which.. Rasmussen for a bag of pucks? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I've been down on Rasmussen since he got to NJ, but the last few games have been pretty good. And I really like the Rasmussen-Rupp-Stevenson 4th line. I thought they were awesome in St. Louis and brought tons of energy.

They devils CAN NOT trade a regualr d-man. Especially with the uncertainty of Stevens. If the Devils trade a d-man, they need 2 in return right now. As of right now I don't think Martin is ready for full time playoff action and I would hope to see him used as the 7th along flip-flopping with Albelien for the playoffs. That means we need at least 1 more defensmen. Trading White even for an upgrade leaves in the same position.

White-Neidermayer is our #1 pair with Stevens out and this should not be touched for any reason.

Hilarious.. Lehtinen is a superior player towards Madden. Lehtinen is better defensively, offensively and is probably one of the most consistant players in the league. There's a reason he's above Mike Modano as the Stars franchise player, and you are not gonna tell me Madden is > Modano.

Madden is a very solid shutdown center with some underrated defensive game, but he isn't Jere Lehtinen. And whoever said Madden should've won the Selke last year is the biggest homer the boards know.

Get out of here. The Devils had the best defense in the league last season tied with the Flyers for fewest goals against. John Madden was as integral a part of this playing all season against the other teams top lines as guys like Stevens and Brodeur were. "Some underrated defensive game" you say? Get real and start watching more Devils games before downplaying what number 11 did. Forget the points that Lehtinen puts up. The Selke award is for Best Defensive Forward. That was John Madden last season and all the way through 7 games of the Finals. You couldn't have asked for a single ounce of sweat or desire more from the guy all last season.

Guess a more basic (rhetorical) question to all of this is: why do the Devils need "a shakeup"?

Ryan Smyth could add scoring punch.

How about madden for Smyth.
What else would be needed to make it fair?
