Lord I hope for the good of my hockey pool that Peter comes back.
I was wondering if Pete ever played as a visitor in Colorado. If so, was he cheered or booed?
I was surprised when I read on the New Jersey board how much they resent Niedermayer after he left as a free agent.
Peter played his first game as a visitor in the Pepsi Center back on April 6th when the Nashville Predators came into town.
I was in attendance at that game and can say that there were NO boo's for Foppa, and the Avs even showed a tribute/thank you video highlighting some of his greatest moment as an Avalanche player, and after the video aired, he got a standing O from the fans in attendance.

If Forsberg looks to be good for the season, and wants to come back, I would welcome it with open arms. If he would sign a 1 year, 2-3 million contract, I would be happy. We would move Arnason over to the left wing and move Richardson to the 4th line left wing. Honestly, our 3rd line would be better then some teams 1st line. Forsberg still has the skills, and if he is healthy, can still put up some eye-popping numbers. And playing a reduced role on the third line would do him good health wise.

Does he fancy himself a psychic? He even goes on to make predictions.
But for real, he makes some decent points, most of which have been made at some point or another by posters here. One new point is that Giguere wouldn't be interested in Forsberg because he's too much of a past thing, and FG is about the future. But then he goes on to predict Blake will be back at the deadline.
If Peter Forsberg does not return to the Avs it's because FG doesn't want him back. Dater is right about Forsberg won't be begging the Avs to bring him back. He would love to come back to Denver, but it takes to sides to make that happen.
I actually think the majority of those predictions are pretty damn good.
yea they were really good , but that one i like the best and i agree at 100 %

- Ryan Smyth will score 40-50 goals for the Avalanche IF he plays on a line with Paul Stastny, not Joe Sakic. Sakic is more of a shooter than a passer, but Stastny would set him up all night.
Ryan Smyth wouldn't score 50 goals with Wayne Gretzky as his center. He's not the type of player that thrives with a playmaking center. In fact, personally, I'd think he'd do better with Joe Sakic, cleaning up Sakic's rebounds. That's how Smyth scores.
yeah he probably wont put up 50 goals tho he was on pace for 47 with the oilers last season i do believe he will put up career numbers with 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points
well yeah, injuries. also, he's not the type of player that we need. as everyone points out, we had a fantastic offense last year. but we also struggled mightily keepin the puck out of our net too. i don't think adding more offense is the right course of action. i think we'd be better off trading for a guy like axlesson or signing a guy like jay pandolfo or mike johnson.
Forsberg has been called one of the best 2 way forwards ever, so adding him to the roster won't hurt on defense, even if he has lost a bit of his edge.
Peter has never been known as a player that does anything other than fit well in the lockeroom. I think there is ZERO chance that adding him disrupts the chemistry of the roster. If anything it improves it. There won't be a problem getting ice time for all the forwards between even strength, PP and PK time.
^ IMO, after camp as long as no one from last year sucks and the new guys don't fall flat, you trade Svatos for a prospect or pick (thinking he fetches at least a 2nd rounder or equivilant value) or hold onto him and play him on the 4th line and use him as depth for injuries(IMO not fair for Svatos) . You then have that pick and other prospects/picks to make a bid for a major D man or goalie come deadline time if needed.

Gives you 3 smoking scoring forward lines along with a solid checking 4th line even strenght, 2 very dangerous PP units, and a solid PK. You make it clear to Wolski that is is a one year thing. He will get top 2 line time after this year as long as he does not fall apart and its not like he won't get time on the top 2 lines due to injuries anyways.

I'm all for bringing back Foppa too. Adding a player of his calibre can never be a bad thing.
for the record though, I don't think its going to happen.
I just think that FG is not going to push for it at all. I think he is happy with the current roster and does not want to look into adding Forsberg. That said, I did not think he was going to go get Smyth and/or Hannan either, so....
Its going to take some prodding by Forsberg or one or two of the right player (Sakic) to make it happen, and I just don't see that happening. I would love to eat my Hat though.
U're better off brining Peter Forsberg back than sticking with ur "ohh, im soo not about the past, its all about the future" personality. There is ABSOLUTELY no CON's in bringing Forsberg back. We've got the cap room to do it. The fans want it DESPERATELY and the avs organization owes it to us after letting him and foote go for nothing. I know it's mostly Lacroix's fault but let us remind u the garbage we got in return (breeezer and turgeon). Seriously, adding forsberg can't hurt our chemistry (so don't use that as an excuse). So what if Forsberg is injury proned. If Forsberg skated on one leg, he's still better than alot of players in the NHL. That's exactly what happened to Forsberg last yr in philly where his ankle kept rolling around in this skate. Look at his stats....he still avgs a point per game. For all the people who are doubting forsberg (saying he's nothing but a third/forth liner or "we've got stasney now, we dont need him"), u will be the ones who motivates Peter Forsberg. U will just motivate him to come back and dominate the NHL. JUST SIGN FORSBERG FG.....seriously FG what-the-**** are u holding back on.
It's not as easy as just signing him. He still hasn't made a decision over what he'll do this coming season. There are probably 10 GMs who are waiting on that. I'm sure that Forsberg knows what the Avs are willing to pay him if he does decide to return, and that will factor in. How much does he want to return to a Colorado team that is pretty stacked at forward for a contract that would be smaller than he would get elsewhere, etc. Right now this is more about Peter than it is inaction or apathy on the part of the Avs' front office. I fully expect that if Foppa returns to the NHL and he wants to play in Colorado, that's what will happen.
I think it would be hard to state what our lines would be, especially if we sign Forsberg. I think Q will mix them up enough that all the top-6 caliber players see time on the top 2 lines. If he could pull it off, it would sure discombobulate the opposing coaches when it came to matchups.
it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with making the phone call. No cup contender can nor will give peter much over 3 million and Peter is not going to anything but a top cup contender. The Avs have more than enough cash and can afford to wait till he is ready to bring him back. Its all on FG and his stubornness at this point.
IF FG had really been working to make it happen, Forsberg would be dropping hints in the media that Colorado has offered a contract and he is just waiting to see if his ankle can handle it, not commenting on returning to Philly or the like.
