Calgary Flames: 36-24-10, 1st in Northwest , 3rd in Western Conference
Atlanta Thrashers: 30-33-8, 4th in Southeast, 14th in Eastern Conference
Another 5pm start for the flames, and although it is a back to back situation, after only playing 1 period last night so they shouldn't be too tired.
This will be the only time these clubs meet this regular season. Historically, the Flames have had their troubles playing at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, with 3 losses and a tie in the 4 games played in Atlanta between these clubs. The most recent game was a 4-1 win for Calgary back on February 13, 2007.
I haven't seen any official lineup for the Flames but I will try to update this post if/when they are available. Kari Lehtonen is the expected starter for the Thrashers.
The Flames are on a 1 game losing streak; the first time in 5 games they failed to secure at least one point, while the Thrashers have lost 2 in a row and have only 1 win in their last 11.
Injuries: Steve Rucchin is out for Atlanta.
Key to tonights game:
Take advantage of the Powerplay - Atlanta is 27th in the league on the PK.
Get on them early - Don't let a struggling team get any momentum at the start.
After a somewhat lackluster performance for the last 2/3 of the game last night, the Flames will hopefully bounce back, play with some energy and pick up a win. Hopefully we're seeing the start of another hot streak for Kristian Huselius, who has 3 points in the last two games.
