who is more revered in Finland?

I am assuming this is the best place to post this. I was wondering who is more revered in Finland Teemu Selanne or Saku Koivu? Obviously Selanne has had the better career, but Koivu is the captain of the national team and has had his own fair share of success. Back in Finland who is more revered to the public? The better player or the better leader?

I actually think it's geographical. I think Like Helsinki area really likes Selanne but I think west of Helsinki especially in Turku (his birthplace) you'll find more Koivu fans.

Personally I'm a Selanne fan, but I was born in Kokkola which is closer to Turku I think. I'm pretty sure it'll be about even if you were to poll Finland.

I think Turku's pretty much the only place in Finland where Saku is revered more. Sure, he's loved everywhere in Finland, but Selanne's pretty much a "god". Winning Stanley Cup didn't hurt.

I would say that hardcore hockey fans would choose Selšnne, but people that do not follow ice hockey regurlarly Koivu due to his achievements in Team Finland jersey.

Selšnne, by far.

Even tho, got to be fair for Koivu. He is miles ahead of Selšnne, when it comes to leadership and grit. But let's just thank the media in Finland, it just so happens, it's Helsinki oriented. Koivu doesn't get the press coverage he should.

I don't draw a line between those 2 really, both have contributed so much for hockey, and for this day Finnish hockey.

Selšnne gets the press for the majority of time, but when both play for Finland the focus is more on Koivu IMO.
