Goalie Scott Munroe gets himself an assist as Michael Ratchuk puts the Phantoms up 1-0 on Norfolk.

As for a delay I'm not sure. Game was scheduled for 5:15 if I'm not mistaken. Weird starting time but I think that's what was scheduled.

Peter White was being inducted into the Phantoms HOF.

It's 1-0 Phantoms, on an end-to-end rush goal by Ratchuk, that looked a lot like the one he had last year in the playoffs. It was a beauty.

EDIT: 2-0. Laliberte with a shorty.

Oh man, JVR just got stopped on a mini-breakaway. He made a nice backhand move, but got stopped.

3-0. Laliberte again.

End of the 2nd period. Still 3-0. It looks to me that JVR is getting a bit more comfortable offensively, and has shown some chemistry with Kalinski. They just haven't been able to bury anything yet.

Phantoms win 3-0! That puts them in 4th place, and the playoffs, at the moment.

JVR had a few decent chances throughout, including an exciting one in the last minute, 4-on-4, but he just hasn't managed to finish yet. But, he definitely looked a lot more engaged offensively, and otherwise, than what I saw on Friday. It looks like he's getting more comfortable all around, and hopefully with a few days off in between now and their game on Wednesday, he can take a breath. Hopefully the Phantoms keep this winning streak going, into the playoffs, and by then JVR should feel right at home in Philly, and maybe cash in on some of those chances. All around, I think he looked pretty good today.

Scott Munroe gets himself a shutout and an assist. Phantoms beat Norfolk 3-0 and overtake Binghampton for fourth place in the division and a playoff spot.

This was their game in hand over Bingo, and they killed it. AS OF NOW, they are in the p-word. (I'm not saying it until they are definitively or not.)

Munroe was FABULOUS tonight. Made some crazy saves. He deserves it - he's a great guy in person.

I just popped my head in to tell the JVR-heads that his jersey went for $1250, via my friend at the auction. They're going high but that is to be expected. They're awesome jerseys.

Well, I just got back from the game, here's what I saw:

JVR needs time. He is going to need time to adjust at every level he moves up to. Complain all you want about how a #2 overall should develop quicker, but the thing is we're going to have to be patient with him. He had a couple nice plays working the puck down low along the boards. He also had a play similar to the one Giroux scored on against the Leafs, it was a nice play but he was on his backhand so he couldn't put it in. He seemed like he definitely could have put out a better effort and worked harder. That worries me, but hopefully he can get it together. He was playing with Kalinski and Szwez, so I wonder what he could do with guys like Ross or Matsumoto. I was hoping to see a little bit more, but at least the Phantoms won.

The thing I came away most impressed with was the blazing speed of Michael Ratchuk. This kid can absolutely fly on the ice. His acceleration is faster than I have seen from anyone currently on the Flyers. Remember the end-to-end rush he had last year?

It was very, VERY similar to that. I'll try to find a video, it was very impressive.

The line today started out as JVR-Kalinski-Gratton, but then Gratton got into a fight, and Szwez took his place for the rest of the game.

Maybe they want him to fail? That way he works his ass off this summer.

No, I just think that the Phantoms already have two solid scoring lines, and they're in a tight playoff race right now, so there's no need to mess with existing chemistry just to drop JVR onto a scoring line, and hope he delivers right away. I think this is all icing on the cake as far as getting JVR some quality playing time, for his development, and the main focus for the Phantoms is to make the playoffs, and extend the franchise's life.

Does anyone think Ratchuk will actually make it to the nhl? I was at the game he scored his first goal and the fact that he did somethin like that again shows he has a lot of offensive skill, but yet he only has 16 points. I don't know really much about him, I was just wondering what everyone else thought.

I'm beginning to wonder. His speed is by far his greatest attribute. Everything else is about average.

Both goals looks like he put it through the opposing defender's legs, and finished it off with a straight shot on a surprised goaltender. For those who watch the Phantoms often, does he often attempt rushes like this that just get foiled? If that was the case I don't think we'd see it happen again. He's 21 now, it's not inconceivable that in 2 years he could have made enough improvement to be a 7th defenseman.

corvo only had about 20 points his first pro season.

I think Ratchuk sufferes from Paddock syndrome. He hated Corvo too
