This is a question with an ever-changing. Generally speaking, it's Redden. He's our top guy, he's more consistent and he is such a calming influence, he's only 26 but he's got such a veteran feel to him on our defence.
At the same time, right now, Chara is playing better, so I voted for him. While both should be in the all-star game, Chara is putting together a Norris calibre season right now, and if you ask either Todd Bertuzzi or Joe Thornton (Modano and several others I'm sure would agree), he's the toughest defenceman to play against in the league.
I picked Redden because overall Redden is the better player, but Chara is right behind him.
Chara is slowly coming more into his game, becoming more than just a physical pressence, he's just really becoming part of the offensive plays when they need him, though he still has his inconsistent times but I think as he begins to really feel more at ease on his skate it will be impossible to say which of them is the best.
Wade has more potential in him but he's already so well into his game - his vision of the ice is amazing and his passing, skating, shooting and ability to help make plays and be part of them is great - he's even become more confident in getting towards the net to make plays
