Wow! I was just thinking of doing this poll today. I really have no clue. Too close for me to call.

Seems like a logical poll . . .

They're both 26 years old, born in 1977
Both were drafted by the Islanders
Both are All Star calibre blueliners for the Sens

Their games are different in that Redden is more of an offensive guy and Chara is the "bigger" presence on the ice (no pun intended) . . . possibly similar to a Niedermayer-Stevens comparo.

I voted for Redden...might not be as strong or as physical as Chara but the more talented of the 2.

I'd pick Redden though Chara can be a huge force when he's hot but has had bouts of inconsistency over the years where Redden is always good.

Chara. His skating is not as crisp as Wade's but his overpowering size and strength nullifies that aspect of his game.

Redden, though I'd welcome both to the Leafs with open arms. God I feel dirty now.

This is close...I will give Chara the edge, he simply bring more intangibles to the table with regards to his size and strength

This is a question with an ever-changing. Generally speaking, it's Redden. He's our top guy, he's more consistent and he is such a calming influence, he's only 26 but he's got such a veteran feel to him on our defence.

At the same time, right now, Chara is playing better, so I voted for him. While both should be in the all-star game, Chara is putting together a Norris calibre season right now, and if you ask either Todd Bertuzzi or Joe Thornton (Modano and several others I'm sure would agree), he's the toughest defenceman to play against in the league.

I picked Redden because overall Redden is the better player, but Chara is right behind him.

Chara is slowly coming more into his game, becoming more than just a physical pressence, he's just really becoming part of the offensive plays when they need him, though he still has his inconsistent times but I think as he begins to really feel more at ease on his skate it will be impossible to say which of them is the best.

Wade has more potential in him but he's already so well into his game - his vision of the ice is amazing and his passing, skating, shooting and ability to help make plays and be part of them is great - he's even become more confident in getting towards the net to make plays

I Agree. I remember several Sens fans were extremely down on him during last years playoffs into the summer.

This is such a difficult question. I'm very tempted to take Chara simply because he is the rarer specimen.
He is one of a kind.

I love Chara, been a fan ever since he played junior here in PG, but I went with Redden. His all-around game and quiet consistency reminds me of Niklas Lidstrom.
