Toss him in the grinder and hope he comes out grade A.

The plus side
Picard has added an edge to his game this year. He has been banging people all over the ice and added a point here and there. If he finds his scoring touch in the NHL I hope he brings it back here for the playoffs. If you want a player to go after the other teams leading scorer and get under his skin Picard is your man.

The minus side
Picard has taken some real stupid penalties late in games. He tends to lose his head and rough up guys with under 10 minutes to play in close games. I hope Hitch can teach him a lesson or two about his temper !

I'd say this is his last chance to make an impression in the org. If he does well, we'll probably make him an offer and if not: adios, muchacho.

As one of the board's Picard-believers - a nearly-dead subsect of the CBJ faithful - here's hoping he makes an impression.

Let loose the Picard.

Now here's a player I would love to see have it come together for.

It might be ugly, but it works.
It's not about picture perfect skating form, it's about having functional speed - and he's fast. He gets to pucks.

He does need to show some offense.

Picard strikes me as the worst 1st round pick we have had.

40 NHL Games
0 Goals
1 Assist
-5

I mean how can that be possible for a first round pick...

It's possible.
It's very similiar to this:

55gp 3g 4a 7pts -6

These are the stats of a 1st rounder selected #1 overall.

That was Joe Thornton in his rookie year.

Picard 'strikes' everyone as our worst 1st rounder when you look at his stats.

Hopefully he will improve- which is also very possible.

I'm interested in seeing Picard, I'm not currently confident he's going to be in our future plans but if he plays well one never knows.

I'm always rooting for Picard. Good for him getting called up again after his injury last year. I hope he sticks this time...

You could put skates on a dog and call him a hockey player too I guess. When you skate like Quasimoto, getting to the puck is one thing but I've never seen him do anything with the puck once he gets there. I pretty much recall him being a cruise missile last time he was up with the Jackets.

Whatever happens, DO NOT give him a stick of gum while he's playing!

Its was just another dumb move by a guy who made a lot of them...

Not much else to do now... this may be the last kick at the can for ol' Picard. He's gotten lost in the organizational depth chart. He's already been passed by Boll and it looks like Dorsett may get here full time before Picard does. Pineault has turned out to be more than we thought he'd be as well.

Where would he be dealt to though?? His trade value has to be absolutely gone now right?

Yep, Fritsche is gone for the rest of the season, Boll is out at least the next game or two.

At least they stayed in it this long.

We're down 3 forwards in the last week, and who knows how long Modin will be healthy. I don't think we're giving up as much as we're looking for a 4th line guy that is physical.

Don't know how this is the white flag, but ok.

We were down to 11 forwards I guess. With Fritsche and Boll out, this seemed like a logical call up.

With Boll out, Konopka should have gotten the call up.

its a logical callup in the sense of needing bodies, but at the same time, its not a callup that is going to give us what we need, which is scoring and a lot of it.

Howson wants to see what Picard can do when he's healthy, lets hope its not the same as the past or he's not going to get an extension.

I do remember early on, right after he was drafted, thinking that he might eventually round into a poor man's Tkachuk ...
