Can a "How the Jackets ruined Picard" thread be far behind?
That would have no basis... Picard can't stay healthy, his skating style was a liabilty early on, he never kept his stick on the ice near the net, I can't count how many time he probably could've scored off a deflection. We'd be lucky to land a fifth rounder for Picard.
Abso-freakin-lutely.... Who would give us anything more than that for a career minor leaguer...
I disagree. I think Columbus would be lucky if someone took him on waivers. The guy has been terrible since game one(yes, I did watch it) and IMO has gotten worse. You hit the nail on the head though. If the guy would keep his stick on the ice he wouldn't have stats that looked like he plays soccer.
I wouldn't totally blame him though, he had the skills coming out of junior, but he was rushed by an moron of a GM.

I like Picard, I'd also like to package him for a center. Nobody would want him right now because he has no value.
If he becomes a 3rd/4th line pest for us great. If we can package him along with some of our more attractive chips for a center...great.
I believe the old rumor was that if we didn't sign Foote we had a deal on the table with St. Louis for Pronger..... our main trade chip in that deal.... Alex Picard.
Imagine the difference that would have made in our history.
Oh man, I forgot all about that guy. I remember I was at a game where he got in a fight and broke the other guy's eye-socket... needless to say, it was a fun game

Haha dude, I remember several yrs ago when I actually listened to GMDM's radio show, when asked about a trade for someone (who it was, I can't remember) he brought up how the other GM asked for "guys like Picard, McQuaid and Fritsche" and "obviously we're never gonna do that."
I was at the game tonight and Picard's play was one of only two remotely positive things I saw (Nash's play was the other). I thought he was noticeable and played strong. He didnt get much TOI, 5+ mins, but I noticed him on each shift, and thought he competed hard. I actually am looking forward to seeing him the next couple games. Too bad that's the only thing I'm looking forward to.
Well, he had only 3:00 of ice time at the end of the first period and ended the night with 5:17. And with good reason.
Picard is liability in almost every facet of his game...he looks so overmatched out there. Brule and him both, they are just look like fish out of water in the NHL...
This is the last rodeo for Picard guys, he'll get a few games to show Howson and Hitch something, then its back to Syracuse for the playoffs in the AHL then who knows what the future holds after this seaon for Picard and the Bluejackets. My guess, he won't see him in a Bluejackets uni ever again after this season. They might give Brule another season to see if he can finally come around, but Picard's upside is virtually gone, he's setlled into what he will be if he ever makes it to the NHL fulltime, and this team has more talented guys that do the same thing ahead of him.
