Antoine Vermette

Sens fan here, just wondering if the Blue Jackets would have interest in Vermette, and if so what they would offer for him.

Ottawa will probably be in need of d-men to fill the void left by Redden's imminent departure, and the likely loss of Commodore and Richardson. Or if Ottawa could move up in the draft, say Vermette+ Ottawa's first for CBJ first. Brule is also an interesting option, a prospect who seems to have been lost in the shuffle and may benefit from a fresh start.

I think you'll find one or two people on this board who have an interest in Vermette.

Both of your trade proposals are extremely reasonable and I would entertain both of them.

You can have pretty much anything you want for Vermette, as far as I'm concerned.

That might be pushing it.

Either of your proposals/initial offers seems very fair from the CBJ perspective.

I would want Brule and Fritche from the Jackets.

I think Brule has a lot of un tapped potential and he is so young still. We could play him with Fisher and tell Brule is job is to play a north-South, crash and bang and pot a few goals. I think he would thrive in this role and pot 20+

Or have Brule play with Spezza and Heatley while Alfredsson plays with Fisher.

Fritche would step onto our third line and we can develop him as a defensive center, plus he has the ability to produce around 35-40 points.

We could develop tose two players to be productive members in the NHL.

What about d-men, who would be available from Columbus?

Vermette wouldn't be our #1, but he'd be a very good addition to the second line. It would be nice to have two legitimate scoring lines for a change.

OKT

The Jackets are not over flowing with top four defensemen though.

The rights to Redden could be had in deal like the Phi-Nsh deal for Hartnal and Timmonen last year.

OKT is signed for $ 750k next year, and Klesla is signed for $1.650 & $2.250 the next 2 years.

The deadline was probably the best time for Klesla to be dealt. At this point, with him stepping up in Foote's absence, I'd say he's pretty much a lock along with Hejda to be 2 pieces of our top 4. The only way I see him moved is if it's in a deal for a true #1.

Klesla won't be moving TW. His contract is good and he's a solid 3/4 guy. There are way to many other holes to fill and trading him would just create another.

I could certainly see OKT being availabe though along with Fritsche and Brule.

I like both of those initial proposals though. It really just depends exactly where in the top 10 this team ends up drafting as to what value that pick will hold.

I certainly hope Howson puts it in play.

Proposal: Ott- Vermette, rights to Redden, Chicago's 2nd in 2008/Ott 2008 1st

CBJ- Ole-Kristian Tollefson, 1st

Pretty good value I think, that is if Redden would wave his no trade, more likely after the season when he knows for sure he won't be back as a sen.

On the surface, this deal looks good. But I'm sure Howson's strategy is to use our first to land a top line center as it's going to be higher than Colorado's. So, I counter with:

Ott - Same as your offer.

CBJ - OKT, Colorado's 1st, Brule/Fritsche.

If you want Brule, we get your first. If you want Fritsche, we get Chicago's second.

It's the RIGHTS to Redden. He's UFA at the end of the season and this would be a draft day trade. If he doesn't sign with us before July 1st, he could walk.

Hmm. Upon further examination I like the Fritsche part of this even better.
