Is a Leafs vs Habs First Rounder Possible??

Leafs are only 4 points out, they have boston today, could very well be within 2 points of a spot today, I realize Washington or Florida are in the way but this certainly looks really possible....Would you want this or not??

Personally I wouldn't even though it would be an unreal first round match up

If they win both games vs Bruins this week, they might have a slim chance.

Not a chance. They play their last game in Montreal.

Buffalo is also in the way too, it's possible but unlikely... I'd rather we knock Toronto out last game of the season and we play Bruins first round.

No, Toronto's heavy forechecking style gives the Habs fits, plus they get all sorts of lucky goals by crashing the net with shots from the point. All the Leaf fans I know would prefer Mtl to finish first if the Leafs squeak into the 8th spot, they feel the Leafs have a better shot at beating the Canadiens than NJ/Pitt/Rangers or even the Sens.

Mtl's best bet is to finish 1st or 2nd get hopefully either Philly or Boston.

Leafs fans are chronically delusional, which explains why they would rather play us...

I think the leafs can only afford to lose one game down the stretch... its going to be a tough haul for them

even then....

It's possible at this point, but not likely...if it was to happen, I think the Leafs would give the Habs a good series, and they do match up well with the Habs, but in a 7 game series I think the Habs would prevail...but IMO the Leafs will not make the playoffs...they will have to settle for what if...

My dream scenario would be their playoff participation relying on a victory in the last game of the season ending with us crushing their playoff push and them failing to get a top 5 pick.

Toronto would have to run the board to get in...but 2 weeks ago I would have said they had 0 chance

Don't kid yourself, they do have zero chance.

Even if they win every game, it's extremely unlikely they would get in. There's too few games left and way way too many people in front of them. You really think *all* of the teams in front of them are gonna **** the bed and let them make up four points? Even if they beat Boston twice in the next two, yes, they would draw even with the Bruins. (Who, by the way, would have to not only lose but lose in regulation, twice.)

But so what?

They would still have a bunch of teams ahead of them. They need *all* of those teams to lose, while they win all of those games themselves, in regulation. Do you really think there's any chance of that? Honestly? I mean, you do realize how incredibly unlikley that is, right? Check out the schedule, look at some of the teams the clubs in front of Toronto are going to play ... Tampa Bay, Atlanta, teams out of the playoffs. Easy pickings.

Meanwhile, look who Toronto have to play... and they are playing them without Sundin.

They have zero chance. The funny thing is, they've been out of for weeks and weeks, but the Toronto media are so desperate to pretend this is an inspiring late charge. But mathamatically, they've been out of for ages.

the media seems to forget that there are three teams ahead of them in the playoff race (Caps, Sabres, Cats)

They're losing 3-1 to the B's. It's over.

Yup, 6 points back of Boston at the end of this game, or would they only be 5 back of Philly?

Montreal/Boston is a classic, some epic game that we remember for years, i prefer Boston and it's not because we win all the games this year, i loved the series that we had before with them. Always been a tough team

It wasn't really possible before the game simply because the Laffs needed to run the table, which means winning both games against us. If we lose both games against Toronto, our hopes of finishing first are seriously reduced. Toronto is too far out of 7th...

Officially Eliminated?

Bwaha.. now they need to win all their games except those vs. us.

Just so they are officially eliminated from the Stamkos sweepstakes as well.
