Hi @ all,

as you can see, I am from Germany and joined this forum yesterday, because I have some questions, that some of you maybe could answer. And if not, I see this posting as a chance to improve my bad Englisch.

In Germany, the Mannheim Eagles unfortunately lost their quaterfinal against the Cologne Sharks and are now scouting players for the new season. Furthermore they have to break up (is this the correct word?) 2 or 3 contracts (Francois Bouchard, Colin Forbes and Rico Fata were namend).

I wanted to ask, if you know players, who could play in Germany next year. Are there any names rumored to teams in Germany?

Mannheim, for example, needs two more good scorers and a top-defensive-man. "Our" manager, Marcus Kuhl, was on a scouting tour in february and viseted games in Boston (Providence), Syracuse and Rochester, ... - he traveled down the east-coast.
Therefore in "our" forum, players like "Zenon Konopka" (Syracuse) or "Jeff Hoggan" (Providence) were mentioned, but unfortunately without source. I think it was more or less a wish of a user.

Okay guys, now I will come to my last question, otherwise you get a headache from my English: ^^
Due to the fact that Eduard Lewandowski, one of Mannheims´best players in the last two seasons, got an offer from Spartak Moscow, where he could earn about 480 000 € a year, "our" manager is looking to replace him. In the German Hockey League all good German players have contracts with their current team and therefore Marcus Kuhl hopes to find an AHL-player with a German passport, like a few years ago John Tripp from L.A. (Manchester Monarchs), who is now playing in Hamburg. Do you know such players?

Thank you!
Yours sincerely,
Stephan

Stephan, I don't know the general talent level in the German league, but quite a few of the guys listed above could probably step in as ok scorers, though I don't think any of them have German citizenship.

Your english is fairly good though, but brake means brakes on a car, to slow them down, break in "break up" or "break away" is spelt differently.

Stephan - I heard that Mannheim will only break the contract of their imports if they find a better one. They are maxed out at 8 imports right now and I think the likeliehood of finding someone better than the ones you have is probably pretty low. Also, since he only did the east coast, he missed many of the top scorers of the league. Also, the eastern conference teams are not nearly as good as the western conference ones and with the crappy scheduling, most of the teams do not face each other so you can't really judge how good someone is since they only play against a limited number of teams and therefore a limited exposure to defenses and goalies.

BTW, love the new arena and I can't believe you guys watched games while standig the whole time, and in an open air arena!!

I have picked up a rumour that one of the better players in Albany River Rats is going to Sweden next season.

Is there anyone with information concerning this?

Jason Krog has said this is his last year in the AHL. Assuming he doesn't get a contract from an NHL club, he'll probably finish his career in Europe.

It's about freaking time Haydar and Krog stop dominating this league and go somewhere else!
