Price to start on Friday; Latendresse close to returning

Per TSN Ice Chips:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=10460&hubname=

Quote:
Head coach Guy Carbonneau will start Carey Price Friday in Buffalo, then make a decision afterward regarding Saturday in Toronto. Price won back to back games versus the Flyers on Feb. 16 and 17.
I'm expecting to see Price play both games unless something bad happens on Friday. But every time this year that he's had a rough game he has bounced back, so I expect the same tomorrow night.

Quote:
Guillaume Latendresse rode the bike on Wednesday and will be evaluated Thursday. If he's feeling well enough to hit the ice he will join the team for practice.
Lats is close and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the lineup on Saturday. Probably stick with the same lineup from Monday against the Sabres.

Really? I guess I don't see any reason to play Halak with 4 games left in the season. If Carey is our guy going into the playoffs (which I'm pretty sure he is), then he needs the work not our backup.

I would have given the start to Halak tomorrow especially with the Sabres playing tonight.

I agree and it makes sense to get Halak another game.
Price should get all 3 to close the season after that.

Good news about Latendresse.

Didnt the last time Price play back-to-back he stunk up the joint 2 days later? I don't see any reason to play our 20 years old starter back to back with 4 games left when we've already clinched.

It's not like Halak can't play. Give him the game Saturday to make sure he's ready in case something happens in the playoffs.

I know its not a big deal, but you don't want to overwork him with us already having clinched.

Just like I dont see Kovalev being double shifted much during the homestretch

It's not like he's played 60-70 games this season and the games are in Buffalo and Toronto, then Ottawa on Tuesday so travel is not an issue.

That said, I don't have a problem with Halak playing on Saturday if that's what Carbo decides. But if I were the coach, it would be Price the rest of the way.

If i was the coach, Halak would only play the last game of the season and only if theres is no seeding implication.

I'd give halak one more start before the season ends... might as well start him in our upcoming b2b situation because there aren't any more of these after this weekend... barring an amazing performance by carey.

I dunno what the **** is your problem, but I was just asking a question. Considering that the line of sergei, saku and ryder looked pretty good, I was wondering where to play him.

Well we have to rack up the most points to make quite sure we finish first. And i dont see Carbonneau using his 2nd goalie to do that. Halak might play once we are sure to finish in 1st.

When Ken Dryden was called up he played the last 6 games of the season and all the post season games to win the Conn Smythe Trophy and the Stanley Cup.

Glad to see Price starts against the Sabres. Halak ia a good back-up but Price is our man for the play-offs so he needs to stay sharp.

The team is something like 10-3-1 since the trade deadline.

I read that Carbo conference article, and even he was taken by surprise on deadline day by Gainey's trading Huet. To Carbo's credit, he understood, and agreed, immediately with Gainey's rationale for moving Huet.

I'm hoping Grabovski is in the line-up against the Sabres. He is developing really well with each game he plays, especially his work along the boards. Love his breakout speed.

The sergei, Grabs and Higgins line has looked good, so why not put them back together, then Lats back with Ryder and Koviu?

I honestly thought Halak would get about 2 more starts as well.
