Whatever happened to Darren Lynch?

#27 for the Vancouver Giants for three years, seemed to be poised for a nice pro career. I noticed he hasn't been documented by hockeydb in a game since 05-06 in the ECHL for the Las Vegas Wranglers, and he was doing well so I wonder why some AHL team didn't pick him up.

Did he quit hockey? The guy was a bright spot on some terrible early Giants squads. Really looked like he had some future in the NHL, spot duty at the very least.

(VAN) 2001-02: 30G, 31A, 61PTS in 72 games.

(VAN) 2002-03: 29G, 53A, 82PTS in 70 games.

(VAN) 2003-04: 22G, 37A, 59PTS in 71 games. 5G, 9PTS in 11 games in the post-season.

(ECHL) 2004-05: 15G, 14A, 29PTS in 54 games.

(ECHL) 2005-06: 7G, 7A, 14 PTS in 13 games along with 7A in 6 games in the post-season.

24 years old, turning 25 July 7th.

Where is he now?

Whatever happened to Darren and all the Lynch brothers. Wasn't there like 4 who had NHL potential?

I may be mistaken, but I don't think Darren was related to Doug, Scott, Jeff and Jason Lynch. I just read an article on how the four Lynch brothers(Doug, Scott, Jeff and Jason) all played on the Spokane Cheifs at one time but it made no mention of Darren. I know Doug (2nd round by EDM, 2001 Entry draft) is still in the Blues organization (part of the Pronger deal) but i'm not too sure about the other three.

Correct. Darren has no relation to Doug, Scott, Jeff and Jason Lynch who all played for the Chiefs.

Or did he? I know they had a younger sister...could that have been Darren?

Doug Lynch is now playing with Salzburg in the Austrian League.

Accordign to various sources a wrist injury derailed his career.
Had a strong AHL season, a NHL call-up, the surgery and then went downhill.

Lynch had a tryout in the AHL but only lasted 4 games before coming back to the Wranglers. I remember it being announced at a home game (I see about 90% of Wranglers home games) and thinking "Good for him, he deserves a shot," then he was back a week later. He was traded to South Carolina (ECHL) later that season and I have no idea what became of him.
