How the **** did this happen? I'm positive(at least I thought I was) that we traded our 2008 1st, Detroit's 2007 2nd, and Tampa's conditional 2nd(which was 07 or 08) for Vokoun. Nashville decided not to use Tampa's 2nd last year, which means they get Tampa's 2nd this year. I still think the Panthers website and the NHL website is getting this wrong.

No, we traded our 2nd for this year, which ended up being 9th in the second round. They decided not to use ours last year and kept it for this year.

Nashville has both of our 9th picks and we get to keep Tampa's.

Idk about this, I'm going to google the trade once I get a chance. I'm pretty sure we traded Tampa's 2nd, not ours.

The picks include a first-round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, a second-round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (No. 58) and a conditional second-round selection in either 2007 or 2008.

They could have taken our 2nd rounder from this year, or our second rounder that was pick number 40. They chose to let us have last years(we got Repik I believe) and now they have the one from this years.

If we do have the #31, Martin somehow fooled everyone on HF and in most hockey circles I've seen, because they all think Nashville has the #31 pick. And that would be awesome. That's basically a late first in this strong draft.

Yeah, I had a feeling you were going to say that. The only thing I can say is the, according to multiple pages, we have the 31 pick, so I wouldn't complain about it

Believe me, I would love it if it were true. I just don't want to have false hopes.

The Panthers originally had three picks in the second round. But they allowed Tampa to take the conditional 47th pick as part of the Chris Gratton deal and traded away the 58th pick Friday to Nashville as part of the Vokoun deal.

The Panthers, feeling next year’s draft will be stronger than this weekends, will take Tampa’s second round selection in the ’08 draft as another twist in the Gratton deal.
Well, at least the 2nd part. It doesn't say anything about Nashville for this year.

However, here is a different scenario:

Quote:
Nashville was yet to make its biggest splash on the trade front, though. A mere hours before NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman took the stage to announce the draft’s commencement, Poile moved goaltender Tomas Vokoun to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2007 draft, and the Panthers’ first two selections in the 2008 Entry Draft.
http://predators.nhl.com/team/app/?s...ticleid=365546

Now, this could mean our set picks, as in both our 9th picks in each round....

I was with you MB. I actually posted that in another thread but deleted it when I saw the link to the Panthers site.

I think when the trade was made, some news outlets reported that it was Tampa's 2nd and got it wrong. Because I'm positive I read that. That seems to be why a lot of people on HF were fooled as well.

I like what I've heard about Cody Goloubef and Erik Karlsson. If we were picking at #40, I'd say Lalonde, but now things change. Though, it would be hard to pass on Thomas McCollum if he were still around at 31.

Nashville's board mentions that the Predators organization told fans clearly that they have our second round pick, not Tampa's. They apparently just used NHL.com for that but it seems a bit settled if the team has just accepted it, no?
