I agree with you unfortunately. I think though that if Zherdev was the main go-to-guy on a team he could blossom just as Jokinen did in a similar situation. Zherdev plays behind Nash on that CBJ team and I think if he was first line in FLA with a FA signing and Horton on his line or something like that, he could explode. He's a playmaker and sniper but doesn't fit that "Martin mold." I'd love to see him here though as he's so exciting, and possibly being able to pick Boedker would give us ANOTHER stud exciting speedy offensive player. Boedker has been compared to Bure before and has incredibly speed and stickhandling ability, plus he was coached by DeBoer this past year. It's highly unlikely though, and even if we did get a first rounder at 6th overall or in the 15's, I'd expect a dman to be drafted. There are so many good ones who will be available so it could be smart. I'd just say go with the BPA no matter where we draft. We could use a goalie, a dman or an offensive forward.

I agree with both of you that I doubt JM goes after a guy like Zherdev who has had a reputation of being a bit lazy.

Idk, that's what it's been saying on the ticker for the last few weeks. Either way, for some people in the U.S. it will be possible to watch both days.

They're doing a 1st round wrap program, but not covering the actual first round. At least that's what my guide, directv.com and tvguide.com all say

But the ticker on NHL network disagrees with you.

Lovely, now Olli wants out according to Dredger. Way to botch that situation Martin. Supposedly asking for two NHL players and a first round pick. We need someone that can produce NOW. I could see him going to New Jersey, with Zajac possibly coming back, Philly too possibly with Carter on top of all the teams out west that want him.

They have a bunch of programs on Saturday that say the draft, so I'd bet that they will replay the 1st round on Saturday as well, but on the guide it says something else will be on at that time on Friday.

For the last few days, the ticker has not showed the Friday 1st round part. But for weeks before that, it said something like: 2008 Entry Draft First Round coverage, Friday June 20 8:00 pm. I'm pretty sure, unless I'm going delusional. We'll see I guess.

Versus will have live coverage of the first round, which begins at 7pm est. It will likely be a simulcast of TSN's coverage.

NHL network will also do a preview show beforehand, beginning at 6pm. It also seems they will replay the first round at 1am, and recap on "On the Fly". They'll have extended coverage Saturday morning when the draft continues, from 9:30am to 2pm.

Ok. So Round 1 is over. Who do we take at 31?

I was kind of upset McCollum just went. With the new overload at D, I would imagine they go somewhere else. Markstrom is an option in goal, and Deschamps is another option.

I would love Aaron Ness. I thought he was going first round. He's small, but supposedly one of the most talented players in the draft, and he's a defenseman. I think we will take a d-man at 31 and a goalie at 49. He's supposed to be blazing fast and a future PPQB in the NHL. I really think that's a strong possibility. As for 49, I think probably Peter Delmas or Braden Holtby fall to us. Markstrom and Sateri will get picked before then IMO.

I think we'll take the guy that they were talking about Detroit possibly taking at 30. Not sure of the name, but they were all surprised that he was still available. Sorry if I'm way off on the name, but I think it was DeShaun or something like that.

Deschamps is great, he's a gritty two-way center that brings a lot of emotion and intensity. But I don't think there is really a clear cut BPA left. There are still so many great prospects left. Our prospect pool is fine at forward. Our weaknesses are defense and goaltending. We will address those two needs in the second round, just watch.

There will probably be a lot of offers to deal down. If we're offered 2 later second rounders I hope we will.

Pickard is gone, Nashville picked him.

Also, Niemi, Robak, Goloubef are still out there.

Yeah that was Deschamps. They were saying that the Canadians would have taken him at their pick had they not traded it for Taguay. Markstrom interests me too. They thought he could have gone much higher and is compared to Lehtonen.

I think Deschamps is our guy tommorow. Being french Canadian and a two way player who improved greatly, there's not a reason for Jacques to not pick him. We'll see though.

The more I watch Jyri Niemi the more I like him . This guy skates like the wind and has a super hard shot. I hope we land him.
