OT: Jagr to sign with RSL team?

Captain Jaromir Jagr said he would meet with representatives from Avangard Omsk of the Russian Elite League about possibly playing for the team next season after his contract expires. According to the team Web site, the Avangard general manager plans to fly from Russia to New York on Sunday.

Just a heads up for those who were interested in signing Jagr in the off-season.

That sucks, I would have loved for the Habs to sign Jagr to a one-year deal.

He's said it numerous times, it's the rangers or Russia. Stop thinking of Jagr.

just looking at their roster it would appear they have a d-man named Denis Denisov, that's a pretty quirky reason to consider leaving for Omsk...

they're a wealthy team, but a far cry from MSG and NYC.

Hmmm NYC or Omsk..

NYC or Omsk...

Tough choice..

One is considered the capital of the world, home of the UN, some of the great universities and scholars, a bustling economy, the world's most influential stock market, a wildly tourisitic destination...

The other is a city in southwest Siberia* in Russia, the administrative center of Omsk Oblast.

Always a fun tourist destination.

Dont you be putting down the sizzling Omsk nightlife with all its glitz and 3 open bars till 10 at night.

I hear the bar named Freezeyourassovski is a b****in' place...

Here's what the climate is like (from wikipedia) :
The climate is dry and continental, characterized by dramatic swings of weather. The average daily temperatures are, over the last thirty years, 20 C (68 F) in July and −19 C (−2.2 F) in January, although typical extremes reach 45 C (113 F) in the summer and −45 C (−49 F) in the winter. The average number of sunny days is over 300 per year. The annual rainfall is 315 millimetres (12.4 in).

Omsk or Montreal...after the winter we had, Siberia doesn't seem like such a bad place.

Not saying otherwise, just pointing out that for someone who spent half is life in EU (born there too) and only spent a few years in NY, he might NOT think it's the Capital of the world... you know...
