Weiss and Matthias are great but this trade doesn't make any sense.
Shhhh...on the Panther board. Trying to keep things nice

Dany Heatley - Antoine Vermette - Rostislav Olesz
Richard Zednik - Stephen Weiss - David Booth
Chad Kilger - Kamil Kreps - Radek Dvorak
Greg Campbell - Shawn Matthias - Wade Belak

Jay Bouwmeester - Bryan Allen
Andrei Meszaros - Mike Van Ryn
Karlis Skrastins - Cory Murphy
Noah Welch

Tomas Vokoun
Craig Anderson
I had also another idea about the Sens but that's a big "if". With Horton and Jokinen, the Sens would get the major change they need. But they would still need a solid goalie.

Just for the fun of it, I thought about a proposal based on an hypothetical situation. Let's say that the Sabres are once again not able to retain a key player and that they need to trade him (Ryan Miller):

To OTT: Ryan Miller, Maxim Afinogenov and TB 2008 3rd round pick

To BUF: Karri Ramo, Martin Gerber and OTT 2008 1st round pick

To TB: Mike Fisher and Ray Emery

Sabres: Ramo-Gerber
Lightning: Smith-Emery

Sens lineup:

Horton-Spezza-Afinogenov
UFA(Stillman?)-Jokinen-Alfredsson
Foligno-Kelly-Neil
McGrattan-McAmmond-Donovan

Volchenkov-UFA(Liles?)
Phillips-Lee
Schubert-UFA(Smith?)

Miller
UFA

This is obviously just a fantasy idea but I really think that the Sens could benefit of a major change of their core. Jokinen would give them a talented leader and Horton would replace Heatley as their power forward for the future.

Honestly, the Habs need to keep their core and I think that Weiss and Matthias are part of the core of the Panthers.

It would obviously be nice to get a guy like Jokinen but we can't afford to break the chemistry.

well for fun if bouwmeester doesn't sign and we trade him what do you guys think of a

florida- corey perry and 1st pick and/or prospect
anihiem-bouwmeester

they get a defenseman who doesn't replace niedermayer but maybe the best possible player that plays similiar style minutes and worth

we get a solid winger who's also young either a top prospect young player etc. and/or a nice pick in a deep draft

we also could possibly sign Campbell in the offseason to be our number 1 d-man

if we can't resign bouw i think this is a very solid deal. leaves us room to still try and sign a campbell or possibly trade for a guy like pitkanen or ryan whitney as puck moving d-man

also i believe jokinen will be traded so how about a 3 team trade

calgary- jokinen emery/gerber
ottawa-kiprusoff
florida- spezza

we prob have to throw in some kind of winger to ottawa but that's kinda the core of the deal maybe a few other pieces thrown here and there

Would you guys trade Olli and a pick/prospect to Ottawa for Spezza? He is signed for the next seven years, with the numbers looking like this 8.000 8.000 8.000 8.000 8.000 5.000 4.000 (in terms of millions. I think I would do it. Id put him on the top line with maybe Frolik and Olesz. Or make that our second line, with the s. express on the first. Thoughts?

LA- cammy, vishnosky
min- brouchard, jonsson/burns
edm- pitkanen, horcoff

just some thoughts not sure how far off or w/e these would be

If Edmonton offered that, I dont know if I could say no. We would have to go on the market and get someone to add some scoring to a Horcoff/Olesz line, but imagine a blueline of Bouwmeester/Pitkanen. Even better, seperate them and we have two solid pairings.

Sundin is 37, Horton is 22. No GM in the league makes that trade.

Oh, how I wish I weren't a mod so I didn't have to come in here

Why on Earth would Calgary give up Kipper just to land Jokinen and one of Ottawa's inconsistent goalies? Seriously. I can sort of see Ottawa's motivation, and certainly Florida's (talk about winning a deal!)...but what's lacking is Calgary's motivation.

Like I said, I certainly can see Florida's motivation for making that trade and it would be a hell of a coup for Florida to do it.

well i meant with more pieces from us going out to both teams.

but in retrospect i think a spezza for kipper would be in the works.. i heard calgary wanting to possibly move kipper cuz he's gonna make a bunch of money this year. ottawa needs a goalie calgary wants a number one center. but calgary obviously needs a real goalie as well.

iono i was just wishful thinking cuz i'm in the boat of wanting jokinen gone. i think theyre are more valuable players out there. and possible trades that make this "team" better.

I would, I'm not sure if Ottawa is really looking to trade Spezza though.

The Flames just re-signed Kipper and have no one to take his place. Kipper is more popular here than Iginla. Flames would trade Tanguay first before letting Kipper go.

I'm in the boat of only move Jokinen if it's necessary to bring in someone better, but ideally keep Olli and manage (somehow, but I have to say I can't imagine how) to acquire someone better for him to play with.
