Hmmmmm...if Ottawa offered that, I think you really have to think about it. Id like to see Vermette and Olli together. Meszaros is a young Dman, and Zubov is a decently touted centerman.

What about a similar star for star deal...Bouw for Spezza?

ottawa would never offer Spezza or Heatley for bouwmeester. that should be pretty obvious to anyone.

No way we think about it. Vermette is basically a clone of Olesz and maybe with less offensive upside and less physicality. Meszaros is a #4 defenseman at best right now and just came off a poor year. Zubov seems like a very good prospect, but for Bouw? No way.

Most of this just hurt my head. Jay B is the core to the rebuild or re-arm of the panthers--it would take an out of this world offer to gt him

I agree. What kills me is people proposing to replace him with Campbell. LOL. Yeah, sure.

Great reasons why, thanks for the explainations. You've added to the topic terriffically.

Since Bouw hasn't been dangled in such a manner, publicly, we have no idea what he could or couldn't get. The guy played more minutes than anyone in the NHL, played great against the best players in the game as his defensive game continues to improve, is able to get onto the stat sheet, is one of the best skaters on the ice, and he's still young.

He's not being "overrated."

Perhaps, but I don't see him going for 90% of these deals on here.

Not really...

I agree that Spezza has more value than Bouwmeester but if I was Ottawa, I would think about a deal around Heatley and Bouwmeester. Of course, their would be other pieces to the deal.

I wouldnt trade him for just heatley sorry I dont think heatley is worth as much long term as jbou will be to their respective teams.

jbou = franchise top 5 defenseman in the ame for a long long time to come

no one would offer heatley to get bouwmeester in the first place so you don't have to worry about making that trade.

If it were up to you the Panthers would trade Bouw for a bust prospect and a 6th round pick.

That proves what? How many defenseman in the NHL missed that? Is that all you have for your agument? Pronger, Campbell, Markov, Rafalski, and Blake are a few defenseman not named either. I guess they're all overrated defensemen, too?

The guys I mentioned aren't either. You're not a Panthers fan, why do you keep coming in here. Keep thinking Bouw's not a top defenseman in the league, doesn't matter to us, him, or the rest of the hockey know-it-all's who say otherwise. I'm fairly sure you'd be quite surprised by how much other GMs value Bouw.

Thanks for the list of accolades. I'm well aware of what they've done in their careers. Yet none of them were mentioned this year, were they? You mentioned that if Bouw "was a star defenseman he'd be mentioned in that article somewehere."
No GM? Your proof is where?

It's all Bouw's fault that the Panthers are where they're at?
