Flyers @ Thrashers GDT

Flyers won the only other GDT I have done so I figured i'd make this one quicky.

Nittymaki is expected to start for the Flyers

Season Series is tied at 1

Prediction
FLyers:3 (Comrie,Gagne,Primeau)
Thrashers 3(Kovalchuk 2, Robitaille)

Enjoy!

A tie isn't too farfetched as we are certainly due for one. Atlanta is struggling lately so I think we might make them work real hard to get that point. They played us real well last game in Atlanta, hopefully the trend doesn't continue. I got my prediction bang on yesterday so i'll try to make it 2 for 2.

Flyers 3 (Gagné, Comrie, Handzus)
Atlanta 2 (Heatley, Stefan)

Win this game, and we have 1st overall, going into the break.
I find it odd, that the Flyers didn't leave Philly after the caps game, and head to Atlanta. They left this morning @ 10:30am.
Anyway... this should be a good test for "FRANK", as the Thrashers have a great offense.

Flyers 4
Atl 3

Comrie (if he decides to shot), JR (off the slump), Zues, and Jani (no more posts tonight please)

Is Atl not even looking to make the playoffs this year?
There are easy ways to upgrade this team without giving up alot outside of a few picks and in that division they could still make it.

I hope we win and give Antero another good game.

However, a press conference is being held at 4:30pm in Atlanta for a special announcement. A trade maybe?

I went to the Thrashers website. I just read on the main board that they have next year's all star game. That's probably what it is or as someone else suggested, Waddell could be giving the press conference to say that he saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico. That could happen too.

I liked what I saw of Antero last night. It'll be intresting to see how he responds to Atlanta's offense.

This will be a real test for him, especially if they get PP chances. One thing I noticed about him yesterday is that he comes out of his net at the right moment and is always square to the shooter. He looked real confident in himself and we should thank our goalie coaches for making him bounce back after a brutal season last year. I'd love to have him back up Esche on a consistent basis. I know some of us are all hoping Hackett gets shelled in his Phantom's game, but then again that would force Clarke into making a trade for a capable backup instead of staying within the system and giving Frank the roster spot.

The Caps announcing team (which is surprisingly competent and much more enjoyable than listening to Coatesy blather) marveled about his positioning for a young Euro tender. I agree, he didn't look out of place on any of the shots he faced -- well, I guess you could say that he would have stopped the one goal he let in had he moved a little quicker from left to right, but it was a great pass to Lang and would have been a killer stop.

Hopefully, Niittymaki can keep it together tonight. The Thrashers are in the playoff hunt, they ARE looking to get better, and they are a team that isn't going to quit on the season. With that said, I think it will be a hard fought tie tonight, 2-2 (Heatley, Kovalchuk - Gagne, Handzus)

I definitely like what I saw from Nitty last night. BTW, I usually mute the TV and listen to Brian Propp and Tim Saunders. I don't think it is too far-fetched to predict a 3-2 Flyers victory.

Flyers - 5 Thrashers - 2

I think the Flyers keep on rolling tonight. I know Atalanta has some scary talent but they are still an inferior team and I think that the Flyers will overwhelm them.

Gagne and Comrie with a goal/assist each tonight.

Let's Go Niitty and Let's Go Flyers!

I think this will be a tight game, but the Flyers can take this one. Here's hoping for two points.

I'll keep in the back of my mind some of the blowouts we've had against us in the last few years vs. Atlanta. Even with that in mind, I'll say a 4-4 tie. Not a demolition of Antero's psyche, but tonight he faces a real NHL offense, or closer to it, and not to mention on the road. I'm just rooting for no more Flyer injuries so they can all get some rest over the all star break.

1 - 0 Thrashers sloppy goal late in the period - not the goalie's fault. Hard skating first period. Atlanta clearly wants this one badly. Flyers should stay patient and pull this one out.

What the heck is JR doing? A veteran should know, NEVER go point to point without checking, lately, it's been trust JR to make a dumb move.

How about if Roenick stops trying to make himself look good and not put the pass right on the tape of the other team.

The coming back the other way, the pass back, it wouldn't have mattered if someone picked up Aubin because Vigier was all by himself too.

Hitch isn't going to be very pleased.

Amonte and Roenick both are looking sort of... old. Like they're out of gas or something. If Amonte isn't scoring out there then what exactly is he doing?

Did you make his wife jealous or something?

He doesn't look injured, and it's not like him to slump like this.

Also, Comrie seems to want to make the perfect play all the time.

Oh ****, SIMON!!!!
