Ah man, thanks. What's the attitude likely to be if say my Dad bought two beers, bearing in mind that I look quite young?

Is it really? I did not know that. That place has ridiculous Margaritas.

Only complaint I had was that the bar near my friend's place, in Peabody, has its last call at 12:30, which is... wow. Early.
Well....you stayed in Peabody.

Depends where you go, but you definitely could get caught. Since you're with your dad they probably would either just ask you to stop or ask you to leave. I don't think you'd get arrested or anything, but it's not really worth it.

Depends on the place and the waitress/waiter. Some are cool, others, not so much. The busier the place is, the easier it would be to pull that off...

It does. Love the giant glasses the serve them in too. The only reason I know is a buddy of mine who's orginally from NY told me it was. I had no clue prior to that.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm not an alcoholic or anything but I hear so many good things about Sam Adams - push comes to shove we can buy some and take it back home

One thing to keep in mind, if they ask you to leave and someone decides to argue or make a scene.. then the cops could be brought in. People are pretty uptight in this state, and the country as a whole is pretty uptight about alcohol. Every year someone gets into legal trouble because some seniors graduate high school (keep in mind 99% of graduating seniors are 18+) and someone bought them beer.

Well, yea. I would hope that a dad that's trying to skirt the law wouldn't put up a fight if a waitress asked his baby faced son to cut it out.

Friend, you're from England... you're not missing anything not drinking Sam Adams. It's good beer for people that started out drinking American light lager. If you want to drink American craft beer, drink anything but Sam Adams.

Highly recommend the Landsdowne Pub (right in front of Fenway park), it's a great Irish bar with live music. My favorite place in Boston.

We do have the best beers, but I'd feel criminal visiting Boston for the first time without sampling some Sam Adams. And by the way, my Dad isn't Shawn Thornton, I don't think he's going to trouble the cops as a tourist

That place is great. Has a nice mellow crowd, mix of ages.

Totally ludicrous.

And I drink a ton of craft beer from around the world. I am admittedly a beer snob.

For the record, Sam Adams Boston Ale is better than the regular Boston Lager.

Then think about the tour and get a free glass.

There's easily a dozen better breweries in the state alone.

Name them.

If Harpoon is on your list just save the trouble and tell me we have vastly different tastes.*

*Love Harpoon IPA, but we are discussing the whole brewery.

For locals, maybe. For folks who are visiting, don't know the area, and are looking for a Boston experience? None better than Sam Adams.

Yeah, Peabody's last call is early and it's the same time here in Salem. I hope you didn't end up at Paddy Kelly's, that would just make it worse. Actually, Boston and Saugus are the only 2 places I can think of off the top of my head that still have a 2 AM last call.

Agreed, I like the Boston Ale so much better. In fact, that's what I was drinking during game 7 of the Final, along with a sixer of Alexander Keith's in honor of Brad Marchand.

That's awesome, I'd love to do the tour and get me a glass - if you're telling me to do the tour, does that mean that the alcohol rules are different? Or will they let me do the tour on the condition that I don't drink.

It's about a 10 minute walk from the hotel too, so it's ideal. Another thing, I'm a big Pizza guy, and I've been told about Halftime Pizza - what in your opinion is the best place for some top notch Pepperoni?

Stopped at Clown Shoes.

Halftime Pizza has some of the worst pizza I've ever had. It's like spaghetti-o's sauce on dough with some cheese on top.

It's delicious when you're drunk though.

I have only had one Pretty Things Beer, and though I don't remember a lot of specifics, I remember not liking it and I don't order it anymore at my favorite bar.

I'll try to grab a couple different styles this week and give it another shot, sound good?
