Anson Carter A Canuck!!!

This was reported on www.thescore.ca, and nothing is official, but if it happens, this is wut is reported.

To van

Carter

To was

3rd rounder in 2005
Brian Allen

To me it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, cuz we need our d-men rite now, but maybe witt or gonchar are included? Anyway, great for the NUX!!!

Interesting...

No more O'Neill rumors? Carter is a good pick up for Burke if this is true.

While I'm of the "believe it when I see it" camp, could a 'Nucks fan tell me a little about Allen?

Great pickup... but losing Bryan Allen's going to hurt.

What the....

I don't like this at all...he better be coming back with another depth d-man or something cause now we are straight up f'd on the back end. And damnit...I liked Allen.

Washington got the btter end of this deal in my opinion. Allen will be top 4 with the Caps no problem and in my opinion will be a solid top 4, for years to come. He might even be a top pairing guy when he's done developing.

Damnit, I hope this isn't true from a Canucks POV.

That's a great deal for the Caps, and they dump some more salary. And to the Caps fans who think they aren't dumping salary, look at the past few deals.Jagr was the ultimate salary dump as they also had to pick up some money. And if they wanted to win next year they would have kept Carter not deal him for a later rather then now.

Does that mean Allen + a 3rd would have gotten us Jagr?

Well.. as much as I'd like the Canucks to have a good winger to play with the twins, I liked Allen a lot as a crease-clearing d-man with great upside.

I hope it's not true.

I don't see what Allen has done to show that he'll even be a top 4 guy, let alone a top pairing guy. If this is in fact true, I'd be very happy as a Canucks fan. While I still personally don't think Cloutier will get the job done when it matters, at least the team is making the necessary moves to make itself better for the playoffs.

But the Canucks want to win the Cup this year. And given their position, they absolutely should go for it. As opposed to building/waiting for "the future".

Allen has a solid future. But he is a third-pair dman currently on that team. When you can add to your top two lines in exchange for a third-pair dman, you do it. And you have to give to get.

Not a fan of Carter (always has been overrated, IMO), but the deal, if it happens makes sense for both teams.

Canucks fans think he's gonna be great because he was drafted like 4th overall in the 98 draft. He hasn't shown anything yet to become a solid top 4 d-man.

If true, the Nucks were flat-out fleeced. Allen is overrated, IMO, but I'm surprised the Nucks would give up so much. Maybe my prediction that Zhitnik will be in Vancouver come playoff time will be correct.

Considering that this is the same guy that started a thread about how Zhamnov to Vancouver was pretty much a done deal, I'll go with the guess that this is bs. Canucks get totally screwed in this "deal".

I love it. Carter is so overrated, I don't think he will do any better than Jan Hlavac. Allen and a 3rd is overpaying.
