Really, the only reason we lost tonight is because Rin shaved her legs... Nobody else's fault... (just kidding...)

Anyhow, I think next year will be great... One thing that makes me very confident is that I highly doubt the kids will have sophomore slumps next year... I think their rapid progress had them hit that bump this year in the mid-season, and truly, that's where the few losing streaks have lost us the playoff spot possibly... I don't think the kids will let it happen again knowing the consequences as this year...
Honestly, I thought about that when we lost. I should have waited! To be honest, when we had those 4 in a row at home then lost to LA. I shaved my legs the day before the LA loss. You'd think I would have learned my lesson after that.

The reason I hate them so much is because my family honestly thinks it's cool to cheer for the flames just to piss me off. They know how passionate I am about the Oilers and how angry I get when they cheer for the flames. When my brother in law first came to Canada, I taught him the ABC rule, and so of course...he thought it would be funny to be a flames 'fan' then of course, monkey see...monkey do, and my sister decides to cheer for them too. Then, the rest of my family sees how much it annoys me and pisses me off, and they join in the fun. My nieces and 1 sister are on my side, the rest pretend to be flames fans to piss me off.

Don't worry, I trimmed my beard, so it's my fault too...

Well I not sure about pimped but I certainly have lost count how many times you called Burke an absolute genius and seem to almost worship the guy.

Is your family the betting type...........

Someone who plays it right would "suck the relatives into a bet" that the Oilers finish ahead of the Flames in the regular season next year........ Your garden would be dug; your lawn cut; theie sister would be the beer wench...

Just a thought.................

Unfortunately, they aren't. They aren't THAT proud of their flames to be willing to place a bet with me.

The only thing I can't get over is how the infernal Hockey Gods really rubbed it in our faces:

-Nashville eats up a 3-goal deficit and wins it in OT after the Blues have a legit goal waved off
-The Oilers dominate the Flames, but Calgary gets a cheap PP and escapes a blatant penalty (Gilbert tripped), and in the following situation Aucoin scores a goal on a shot that was going six feet wide if it weren't for a lucky bounce off Grebeshkov
-Alex Tanguay throws the puck on net and it somehow finds its way in with 2 seconds left in the second period
-The Oilers come out and dominate the Flames again despite their combined 1000 years of veteran presence, but shortly after getting a well-deserved equaliser, 66-yearold Owen Nolan gets an open net for his first goal in over 20 games
-Right around the time we go down Colorado starts punishing the 'Nucks, as if the Hockey Gods wanted to say "hey, if you weren't losing the Canucks would still be winning, but now we're making them lose just to tease you"

Anyways, again, I'm proud of the way in which this team made this season interesting and exciting. Next season we play like this starting in October!

October 5-8-0
November 6-6-1
December 5-6-3
January 7-5-1
Feburary 7-5-0
March 10-4-1

A pretty steady improvement there. We have played at a 100 point pace the last 3 months. Hopefully throw in some extra health next year, and this is a playoff team for sure.

As much as I hated the Oilers throughout the season, I feel for you guys. The incredible run at the end of the season, only to fall short isn't something new to me, so I can definitely sympathize with how disappointing it is for all of you. Good luck next year, if the kids keep progressing like they did throughout the season, I won't have to make another post like this for a few years.

tough break guys I was pulling for you all the way. a healthy Oilers team would have surely made it and next year I think you guys are a shoe-in. anyway all those minutes played by your young guys only went to further strengthen your team next season. looking good, good luck next year.

Flames got the bounces tonight...that's for sure. Managed to go to the game, and it was pretty awesome, one of the better game's I've been too all year. Flames fans were actually pretty classy after the game. There was the odd "WHO'S GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS?" shout, but that was about it.

Interesting tragicomic plot shifts all night on the out of towns

Yea the gods like to test faith.

Isn't it the way?
