Yep, especially when you don't have backup plan.

Not as mean, but D - Georges ''Buck'' Boucher

Someone PM the next please.

Excellent pick. Outstanding No. 2 defenceman. He's been my pick for the BDA for a while. Was on my hit list for players I viewed as "realistic" options in this round.

Someday, the first 6 rounds of the ATD will see Gretz, Lemieux, maybe Hull, maybe Rocket, maybe Beliveau, and only D-Mens selected.

Trading down?

I'll maybe trade down from my #137 selection. Be looking for two picks in the 155-180 range (could be before 155 but not below 180). PM me if interrested.

Don't want to hold up the draft too much though, so better offer me something before it's mu turn.

No kidding. By my count the total looks as such:

Defense: 47
Centre: 33
Goalie: 20
Right Wing: 15
Left Wing: 14
Coach: 0

I'm shocked at some of the forwards still on the board at pick #130.

I think Alan Greenspan's 'irrational exuberance' is starting to come into play a bit.

There is still some very very good offensive talent available for those willing to break from the mold.

Agreed. Not that any of the defensemen picked have been bad choices, but wow, there are a lot of talented forwards still available.

Thats one of the main reasons we took 2 d-man. We have confidence there will still be talent at the forward position when we make our next selection.

Pick 200? I certainly hope this crazy run of d-men doesn't last THAT long.

Am I wrong thinking that there should be as much defenseman/goalie selected than forwards? They count each for 3 positions on the ice.

Before anyone answer, I'm wrong I know. That's all the pills I took today ...

before i traded up to get howe, i was hoping for tremblay or buck boucher. i figured boucher wouldn't be available at 127, since D are going earlier this time.
he may have been the best defensive D of his time who didn't rely on goonery. his offensive numbers are also very good, and he was apparently a great puckhandler.

i thought he might not be the best pick for me, though, b/c my top 2 D would be from the '20s.

boucher was also slow, and with cournoyer, taylor, niedermayer, malone, lalonde, fedorov, lafleur, mahovlich, ullman and bathgate in my division, mark howe is probably a better fit.

Where is Reckoning? He usually doesn't take this long to pick. The other 3 guys ahead of me are on line & we could get some momentum going.

Well, Mark Svatos is probably going to win the NHL Cy Young award this year with his 26-and-11 stat line. You can probably wait a little and scoop him up in the 6th round though.
