I don't pick players with funny names. But thanks for the advice.

The Philadelphia Flyers are very pleased to select - C Dale Hawerchuk. At Work, write up to follow. Can someone PM the next GM ?

i was wondering when hawerchuk would get drafted. he dropped quite a bit from the last atd.

definitely hoping he'd slip to our next pick (wishful thinking i guess)

I'm guessing this is the latest Hawerchuk has gone? I think he used to go a bit early, and this is closer to where he belongs.

My bad... We were picking him at 161. Seriously, and we nearly considered it was a bit early.

I *almost* had a deal going with EB so I could get Hawerchuk, but trade talks delayed things a bit, and I almost took one of his offers. Luckily I saw this before I went to PM him back!

I've been trying to bring Mr. Winnipeg Jet home for the past 3 drafts, but I guess I'll have to wait another season before that works out.

In case anyone's interested, Nels Stewart is on the market. I was working on a deal with Evil Sather but he's dissapeared on me. Since we were so close to getting the details down, I'm gonna wait a little to see if he comes back on.

Or if someone makes me an offer I'll definitely take a look.

He would look interesting on the Wanderers for sure, but I'm a bit afraid that our 2nd line would windup being a little too much shooting-oriented.

I think Johan Franzen on Detroit has the slight edge in this race with his 26-10 stat line over Marek Svatos.

Done, and he better hold up because I have no idea who to pick if he doesn't.

You stockpiled all these mid-round picks and you don't even know who to take with them. I think you enjoy trading more than drafting.

I enjoy putting the best team I can on the ice. And I feel like **** so if I can make one less pick it's good for me.

That's the guy you wanted to draft last round and worried about not dropping. Our deal cost you NOTHING. Good job.

The trade helped my team draft three defensemen together, good for strategy and chemistry planning.

Yes, picks were lost in the 450th to 570th overall range, but I often don't agree with guys who go then, shaking my head at guys who get picked in round 16 while equally as good or arguably better guys drop to rounds 23 and 24 or the MLD.

Any pick lost after the first 300-400 is almost no loss at all, imo.

Hence why getting six picks by 125th overall was seen as more important than keeping 500th overall picks. I gladly look forward to later round picks. That is when it gets interesting. ESPECIALLY among right wingers, the deepest position with many great talents usually dropping.

Agreed. I'm just waiting to see if my conditional trade at 137 pans out. Otherwise we don't pick until 157 and I can go watch the Wings at Hawks game.

Well, with no trade offers and no word from ES in over an hour, I'll go ahead and pick:

Inglewood selects a player who fulfills a number of roles on this team. He's not only an allstar defenseman with a Hart trophy and 3 first team allstar selections to his name, but he was also a dangerous two-way winger with plenty of experience beside Nels Stewart if needed:

Babe Siebert
