The only hardware I'm interested in Price winning is Lord Stanley's Cup. Calder trophy be damned!

the cool thing about Price is he'll not get to excited if he wins or looses

I can hear him now.... CP "yeah, that would be OK to win" but "our team is focused on the playoffs right now"

Can Carey Price win Rookie of the year?

Will have played 40+ games by the end of the season.

Over 20 wins {only the 5th or 6th goalie in NHL history to achieve that mark by age 20 I think I read somewhere}.

Excellent PCT and AVG for a rookie goalie.

No outstanding candidates from the skaters, no one more than 20 something goals or thereabouts. No Teemu Selanne's in this bunch, and none of the other goalies come anywhere close to Price's stats.

Thoughts?

Don Cherry seems to think so and he's always right.

It's possible, but he's gonna have to make one hell of an impact in the playoffs.

Unfortunately other than the Conn Smythe, player and coach awards are based solely on the regular season.

I beg to differ...Backstrom is the leading candidate IMO.

I like Gagner too, Enstrom, though they have no shot.

Backstrom or Kane. I'd actually lean on Backstrom because he's much better defensively already.

He could be in the final three with Kane and Backstrom

yeah, it has to be... look at the past 6-7 goalies that won it :

Raycroft
Nabokov
Brodeur
Belfour
Barrasso
Dryden
Crozier

but eh, since Raycroft won it, i guess it's still a curse!

Raycroft won it in 2003-2004 and Jim Carey in 96.......so in recent times it may have a negative impact on a goalie's career afterwards....consider it a curse.

But the last Hab to have won the Calder was Kenny Dryden,so there would be an exception...

Due to Toews injury, I could see the Top 3 being Backstrom, Kane and Price. I just don't see Price winning. Had he been our goalie all year, absolutely, but his send down at the mid-way point of the season really hurt his cause for Calder.

I think he'd much prefer the Conn Smythe anyway

Kane.

Dude is a 160 lb weakling but put up 50ish assists even though Toews missed like 20 games. And no Ovechkin.

This guy is crazy skilled.

that's what I think too... we lift the cup, kovalev or carbo gets an award ,and price gets calder for sure. .. and Yvon gets caught in a sexual scandal involving the FIA.
