Well if we go 4 rounds, I suppose there is a chance that Koivu could be back

Hopefully he has some information though.

Conisder what Saku played through in 2004. I can't see him finally playing on a contender after all these years and sitting out the playoffs because of a tiny break in his foot. If he can wear skates he's good to go.

Now hopefully his terrible luck with injuries in and around playoff time is over with.

Yup and he said start of the playoffs, not just playoffs in a general term which could specify any of the rounds, lol.

Anyone else think that Carbo's comments last week about Brisebois playing with a broken foot were somewhat leading?

Certainly, if Koivu can't play, I'm sure there will be some schmucks that will say Brisebois is tougher than Koivu. Carbo wouldn't place that kind of pressure on Saku IMO, therefore he probably knew that Saku would be back.

I have no problem if Kovalev "catches the flu" again and rest the last game.

It's all because of Lapierre's prayer.

Seriously I wouldn't want to be in Carbo's shoes next week. He has to sit one of O'Byrne/Brisebois, put Streit back at forward. The Begin-Smoke-Kosto line has done a terrific job lately. Koivu will be back, so will Ryder and Grabovski. D'Agostini will sit for sure. Dandy played well the last few games. So did Lapierre. Does he put Koivu back with Higgins and Ryder? There will be a logjam for the third line with Lapierre Grabovski Latendresse Streit and KostyJR. There's no way KostyJR and Streit are sit. So who plays? Latendresse, Dandenault, Grabovski or Lapierre?

I don't think its that hard:

Streit to forward... Komo, Bouillon in and Brisebois out.

Grabovski and Dandenault out ( Grabs just isn't ready for playoff hockey and Dandy has a history of sitting out, getting in the lineup and scoring a couple goals and looking good, then disappearing again.)

The one tough choice is who will play with Streit and Lapierre. Ryder would mean unfortunately Latendresse will sit. It kind of sucks, but Streit-Laps-Ryder has played together before and looked good. I don't think you can change the 4th line at this point.

Latendresse will probably be the odd man out for Game 1, and we'll see what happens from there.

I also think our D will be Markov-Komisarek, Hamrlik-O'Byrne and Bouillon-Gorges for the first game. But you never know, maybe Carbo will go for experience and put Brisebois instead of O'Byrne.

I would also go with a Streit-Lapierre-Ryder 3rd line and a Higgins-Koivu-KostyJR 2nd line. But if we lack scoring during the first two games I'd put Grabovski instead of Lapierre. Latendrese struggled to much against Eastern Conference Teams not named Washington so unless we play them I wouldn't dress him.

This would be amazing news . As for how the lines adapt...

Andrei Kostitsyn - Tomas Plekanec - Alex Kovalev
Chris Higgins - Saku Koivu - Sergei Kostitsyn
Guillaume Latendresse - Maxim Lapierre - Michael Ryder
Mark Streit - Bryan Smolinski - Steve Begin

Andrei Markov - Mike Komisarek
Roman Hamrlik - Ryan O'Byrne
Francis Bouillon - Josh Gorges

Carey Price
Jaroslav Halak

IMO, you go in with that. Kostopolous or Begin will depend on Carbo's mood mostly that day, but I think Begin gets the nod for game 1. Your other option is to move Streit up with Lapierre, sit one of Gui or Ryder, and keep Kosto - Smoke - Begin together, which I'm sure we'll see at some point as well.

Either way, if this is true, we're looking good fellas. The Drive for 25 is Alive.

I have faith in Carbo to dress the best lineup available to him. Depending on our opponent and who is most healthy, he will have the best lineup to win the game.

thats all we could ask for, and aah YOU BETTER DRESS LATENDRESSE

Well it's tough to say because i'd keep Markov with Gorges and Hamrlik with Komisarek. If we play Philly, like i've said, i'd put Markov and Gorges against Briere, and Hammer with Komi againt Mike Richards..

I don't believe in adjusting our lineup against the type of team we face one night because we have to play our style, against everybody, the same one that we used all year long, but Gorges has been playing so well with Markov, and with Komi and Hamrlik we could have 2 great «shutdown» pairing..

I would love to see this done.. Hammer playing with Komisarek would be one hell of a shutdown duo (probably better then Markov/Komisarek). Gorges plays very responsibly and as does Markov. Let Hammer/Komo play the bigger forwards. Bouillon with O'byrne would be a very nice 3rd pairing as well, would bring the physical package needed for playoff hockey.
