"[A goalie's] job is to stop pucks, ... Well, yeah, that's part of it. But you know what else it is? ... You're trying to deliver a message to your team that things are OK back here. This end of the ice is pretty well cared for. You take it now and go. Go! Feel the freedom you need in order to be that dynamic, creative, offensive player and go out and score. ... That was my job. And it was to try to deliver a feeling.”
A little less intelligent quote from Plante
"Goaltending is a normal job, sure. How would you like it in your job if every time you made a small mistake, a red light went on over your desk and 15,000 people stood up and yelled at you."
Doug Harvey
"Either you give it right back or the next thing you know everyone and his brother will be trying you on for size."

It's glad to see such horifying accident - Mark Streit
I listened to it once an didn't even notice it. I guess he was trying to say: "I'm glad to see that he is OK after such horrifying accident." If not, we must sign that psycho D-man next year!
I forget which player it was, but early in the season Price had to make a big save after a player made a bad turnover. When a reporter reminded him about the turnover that led to the good scoring chance and Price's great save, he said, with a smile, "Well that's his job, to stop the puck."

San Jose Sharks rookies Devin Setoguchi and Torrey Mitchell are getting grief from their teammates over the fact they've been getting around town in a rented Toyota Corolla.
"Twenty bucks a day and it's great on gas," Setoguchi told the San Jose Mercury News. "We got a good deal on the car and we get from Point A to Point B like anybody else."
Well, not exactly like anybody else in the locker room.
"I don't know whether they know they're professional athletes yet," cracked Jeremy Roenick after practice on Monday.

"S'ils mettaient Jesus devant le filet, on essaierait quand meme de trouver un moyen de le battre" - Guy Carbonneau about the Bruins putting Hannu Toivonen in net.
"The boils on his backside were probably caused from the red light getting lit so many times behind him".
- Forgotten Gazette reporter on the painful ailment that befell Andre Racicot.
"Hey guys, how about playing in their end for awhile?" Price, during a game (I forget which one) when we couldn't get the puck out of our own zone.
"No intimidation." Komisarek, responding to a reporter who asked him who the most intimidating players to play against were.
"Don't get me wrong, I have all the respect in the world for them. They have good players and they're good at what they do. But playing against them is so boring. They should have to pay for coffee for our fans to help them stay awake." Higgins (I'm paraphrasing), on the NJ Devils.
