Draft picks help..

In one of my FHLSim leagues, i have been trading alot for draft picks (without compromising my team standing much ) and i am starting to prepare for the draft itself. I currently have 6 first round picks

The only available players will be those who played their first game in the NHL this season; those who already played in previous seasons (like Hunter and such who played like 10 games last years) are already in teams. Players like Lethonen and Ovechkin will not be available.

I started a thread in the prospect board asking who were the top players meeting the previously stated requirements and made a small list. How would you guys rank those players (feel free to add others you might think of that are not on the list)...

Marc-André Fleury
Joni Pitkanen
Eric Staal
Nathan Horton
Milan Michalek
Nikolai Zherdev
Tuomo Ruutu
Michael Ryder
Dan Hamhuis
Alexander Semin
Marek Zidlicky
Patrice Bergeron
Fredrik Sjostrom
Joffrey Lupul
Trevor Daley
Woywitka
John-Michael Liles
Ryan Malone
Paul Martin
Dustin Brown
Ryan Kesler
Niklas Kronwall
Martin Strbak
Brent Burns
Christopher Higgins
Derek Roy

Thanks alot

That's how I would order the list, personally. I think it's a toss up between Pitkanen and Fleury as the top prospect, but I give the nod to Pitkanen for 2 reasons - while Fleury is incredibly talented, I still think Pitkanen is the safer bet . . . and with Lehtonen still being available I think you can afford to pass up Fleury more so than Pitkanen. I bumped Ruutu down far on the list because while he is a great prospect for the NHL I really don't foresee him being much of a fantasy contributor. I don't think he's the big point producer that everyone says he is . . . I see him being more in the Holik range in points.

The only other player I would add to the list (that I can think of off the top of my head) is Marcel Hossa (if he's available). He is an immensely talented prospect, who if he finds the motivation to succeed he definitely will excel . . . and with other talented young players in the Habs' system such as Ribeiro, Ryder, Hainsey, etc etc I think the younger Hossa can become something special still.

Thanks rticinelli!

concerning Fleury, i don't really need him atm. I already have Vokoun, Weekes and McLennan who are more than enough.

. . . and I may be in the minority, but I think Lehtonen will be better than Fleury. Personally, I would take Pitkanen over Fleury anyway, but considering your current goalie situation AND Lehtonen's impending entrance into the league I would take Pitkanen first.

IMO based on your goalies.......I would still try to grab Fleury....

You have good goalies, but Fleury will give you security and lets you then trade away a vokoun for something nice....JMO

Everyone has MA Fleury in there top 3 at least, i dont because he's playing in pittsburgh. The pens sent him down cause they couldnt afford his salary and in a couple of months the Entry draft will swing by and the Pens will probably pick up Ovechkin, then they will have to pay him a handsome salary. So i doubt Fleury will put up good numbers for a while due to his lack luster squad
