Best powerplay since 1995-1996

Montreal powerplay is the best one in the league sice the 1995-1996 Pittsburg Penguins with 25,9%.

That's awesome!!! The best powerplay in 12 years!!

Way to go Montreal!

Not bad considering that Pens team had Lemieux, Jagr, Francis, Nedved, Naslund, and Zubov. That's probably 4 Hall of Famers.

The earlier I could find was the 87-88 season and the calgary flames had a powerplay of 28,4%, the highest up to now

its not really fair to take the all time best because inthe old days even if the team scored you stayed in the box for the duration of the penalty.

Yeah but this stopped in the 50s when the Montreal PP became too good. The 87-88 Flames team didn't have this advantage....

However we all know that scoring in the 70s and 80s was easier.
PK systems are more sophisticated today.
Goalies are better and bigger.
More videotape of the team you are facing.

No, he was still on the Rangers in 1995-96, because I remember him playing against Montreal in the playoffs that season.

I'm assuming his first season with Pittsburgh was in 1998-99, because during the 2006 playoffs I remember hearing that Kovalev had never lost in the 1st round before. As both the 97' and 98' Pens were eliminated in the first round, Kovalev couldn't have played for them in those years.

Only on a forum would there be a three post thread about where a guy played in a certain year.

Repeat after me: hockey db dot com.

=)

Anyway, he joined Pittsburgh in 98-99.

Clicky!

No, Nedved was the one traded to New York for Kovalev, and 95-96 was Nedved's career year, he almost had 100 points.
