Keeper League Help

Hey guys, This is my Keeper league team in it's third year, We are expanding and bringing in 2 teams. I'm curious what you guys would protect from my team. We can protect 2G 6D 10F and anyone that doesn't play their rookie season before or during the 2003-04 season is automatically protected. Here is my team (P signifies Protected)

Forwards:
1 Milan Hejduk P
2 Todd Bertuzzi P
3 Jarome Iginla P
4 Brad Richards P
5 Steve Sullivan
6 Martin Havlat P
7 Patrick Marleau P
8 Brendan Morrison P
9 Peter Sykora
10 Vaclav Prospal
11 David Legwand P
12 Jeff O'neill
13 Simon Gagne P
14 Scott Hartnell
15 Tuomu Ruutu
16 Radim Vrbata
17 Peter Sejna

Defence:
1 Marek Zidlicky P
2 Wade Redden P
3 Kimmo Timonen P
4 Paul Mara P
5 Brad Stuart P
6 Thomas Kaberle P
7 Tom Poti
8 Yannick Tremblay
9 Steve Eminger

Goalies:
1 JS Giguere P
2 Jocelyn Thibault P

Development:
1 Taylor Pyatt
2 Nikolai Zherdev P
3 Tim Connolly
4 Dan Blackburn
5 Fedor Tjutin (automatically protected)
6 Andrei Kastitsyn (automatically protected)
7 Jeff Carter (automatically protected)
8 Hugh Jessiman (automatically protected)
9 Ryan Suter (automatically protected)
10 Brent Seabrook (automatically protected)

(I've traded away 1 goalie and 1 forward through trades this year)
The 2 teams will select 1 player each from my team, then i protect another, then they choose again, then i protect, and continues for 4 rounds. Just so you know they get the first 10 picks (5 each) before the next draft to draft undrafted guys (Souray, Hunter, Stillman, Ryder, Vokoun, Denis, etc)
Let me know what you think and why if you can for who i am protecting, who i should protect or how crazy i am. For the record, i like having a young team.

Looks good but I'd protect Eminger over Zidlicky.

Yeah, looks like you made the right choices, hate seeing guys like Poti and Sykora unprotected but it's just a numbers game... You protected all the right forwards, at defence, well last year I would have told you to protect Poti, but he's having a terrible year... If he bounces back he could be awesome, he had nearly 50 points last year, but like I said, this season, different story.

yikes... your going to lose some awsome talent. i'd protect poti over zidlicky.

I'd deal many players for picks, prospects so that you dont lose too much. Hartnell, Pyatt are great they'd fetch a pretty penny.

Thanks for your input guys, I was pretty confident in my protections. So i'll address why i've done certain things.

First, I'm very confident I can Protect Zidlicky and then after the 2 teams pick off my roster then i can protect Eminger or Ruutu. I really like Eminger, but I don't think they will take Eminger in the first round of the Expansion with guys like Oneill and Poti left open.

Second, I totally agree, and last year Poti was a protected guy till I picked up Zids in our draft in September with my last pick (total long shot). And I like the way Zids plays, I feel he could be a Gonchar (pointswise) in a year or 2. He's great on the PP.

Lastly, we put in a rule that if you do not have enough guys for them to choose from you end up giving them a pick. The first guy you don't have available you give up a 3rd, then if you don't have another guy available a 2nd, etc. etc. And you go to the following years picks if you don't have any players. We are only going 4 Rounds, with 2 teams. So I only need (lose 2, protect 1, lose 2, protect 1, lose 2,protect 1, lose 2) so I need to have ateast 11 guys and I have 12. I've been trading for picks as it is though, and I already have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds next year.
Trades i made this year that i remember:
1. To Bill: Dominek Hasek, Keith Tkachuk
To JJ: Martin Havlat, Bills 2nd rd 2004.
(start of year)
2. To Bill: Hull, Demitra, Satan
To JJ: Marleau, Morrison, Bill's 3rd 2004, Cliff's 3rd 2005
I know the last trade looks a little off, but I would have been leaving Hull and Satan Open So i figured I'd get 2 guys I like and some picks. Those picks are gonna be valuable because everyones rosters will be so depleted from the expansion draft.

Thanks again for your help guys. If you think i'm messed in the head for any of the choices I have made, don't be afraid to tell me.

We did a mock expansion draft at our last meeting to see what the guys will get, if any interest just post back that you'd like to see what happened..
