What Would Be The Best Number for a Goalie to Wear?

Being in my first year of roller hockey, next session my team gets our own jerseys and I'm the goalie. I'm trying to think of what would be the best number to be as goalie. Right now, the temporary jersey that I borrow from the rink each week is #33. I was thinking of wearing #20 as a tribute to Vladislav Tretiak. Any other suggestions?

69. Everyone's favourite number when they're trying to be edgy and original.

#1. Old School

unless it's retired, it's for the #1 goalie. Higher #'s are for back ups.

My old number was 38. But I'm up front now so I swapped out for 12.

What's wrong with 20? Not really all that popular number to skaters and it is the number of a player you look up to.

You will be happiest with 20. It probably fits you best even if you like another number.

#1 is like the most unoriginal. Even today, its simply a matter of the tradition of rostering goalies first and assigning player numbers in the roster order. When i see a 1 or 01, I think the team has to turn in the jersey at season for recycle to the next team. Not getting to keep your jersey has to suck!

Go with a number that makes you happy. That is the only "best" number.

If you like the 20, stick with it. You've got a fine reason for it.

Because Pavel Bure was a great goalie?

Besides, 10 is the number for the Russian Rocket. 96 is cursed; ruined his career.

You like Tretiak, go with 20 ... or go with 1, as most are mentioning.

When I started playing in net I chose #1, but I have a differant view than most. I didn't choose it because of past goalies or because I was the number 1 goalie. I chose it because I am the only person on the team that can truely lose a game. Even if no one scores we still tie, but just one puck in my net can lead to a loss. So I went with number one to remind myself that it's up to me not to lose the game.

I'd wear 34 as a goalie. 30 is good too.

It's your number though, so if you want some personal meaning to it, pick one that honors a favorite player or something.

If you want one that has no personal connection, one number is pretty much as good as the next.
