Yep. Far more important than PP or ES.

Remember the game against the Pens when Crosby decided to turn it on? He didn't score them all but he took over.

Ovechkin does the same thing.

I ask because I bet Hemsky would do very well in this list. He seems to get most his points in important situations and I wonder how close he would be to other players if you take away those meaningless points. Mainly teams for the East where a 5-1 or 7-2 score seems more common.

Ya that is just goals though. I would like to see the NHL keep a GW points stat.

I think game tying goals or goals that put you up a goal (even if it isn't the GWG) are all important. Would love to see the #'s but it would take an insane amount of work.

Mainly I just want to take out the points you get when you put your team up 6-0 or 7-2 etc. I bet a lot of players in the East get lots of points in this manner, and I would bet that some Kings do as well.

As you say, a huge amount of work but would love to see it too. Those players are the difference makers.

I know this isn't what you're getting at, but I thought it would be interesting to add in. It is a bunch of stats, for 1 goal games, 2 goal games, and 3 goal games. Detroit leads the way winning 22/27 of their 3 goal games, with Montreal coming in 2nd having won 21. Only the Devils and Sharks have won more 1 goal games than we have. We won 25, the Sharks won 26 and the Devils won 27. We have also lost the least amount of 1 goal games. Too bad that stat stops at 3 goal games, because if it went on further it would be easier to target the teams whose goal scorers are mostly just padding the stats, by putting their team up by 4+.
